BatteryTimer from TMG Development measures battery lifetimes in different usage scenarios. Read this article to see the "effect of using backup batteries, WLAN cards and power saving options". You can download a trial version or buy the software and perform your own tests. This looks like software you definately should have if your'e working at IT HelpDesk.

I can't believe that they are asking $50 for a battery timer. Its a good thing that they didn't develop something complicated.
