Default Winamp 3.0 Released

http://www.winamp.com/

If you're a big digital audio fan, this is a momentous day: Winamp 3.0 is finally released! It's got a VERY good media library tool with some really impressive real-time database query tools. You have to see if for yourself - Windows Media Player practically locked up for two hours when it tried to index my 10,516 audio files over the network, but it only took Winamp 30 seconds or so to get a base index, and it does live sorting of the data as I request different things. This is everything a media player should be! Download it now and try not to remember that AOL owns the company...(although the AOL icon it dumps on your desktop will be a bitter reminder).

Now, if they'd only make a version for Pocket PC...

Windows Media Player is pretty tragic when it comes to playlist support, and there's a nasty skip when it switches between files in a playlist (if you listen to trance or other music that's mixed together, it's a real problem). I think WinAmp could do very well on the platform if they chose to compete.

Let's get some llama butt-whipping on Pocket PC!

FWIW, WMP 9 (desktop at least) will support crossfading. It's beautiful...just got home, and I'm listening to some chillout trance. Works as advertised. The public beta launches on Sept. 4th. Perhaps we'll see some headsup on the forthcoming Pocket PC WMP update then too...

Just tried it and switched right back to v2.x

It doesn't seem that all the bugs haven been ironed out...

I'm in a dynamite-type mood for some audio enhancements. I just hooked up the PC I have in my room to the stereo I have in my room - maybe I'll go and give Winamp a try.

I'm looking for a REALLY great ID3 tagging tool - I need to correct/edit en masse...any suggestions? I've tried several, but they're always "not quite there"...

My tool of choice is MP3 Collector from http://www.collectorz.com

It is more of a cataloging tool than just a tag editor though. I am a big fan of their products generally.
