Palm and IBM team up against Microsoft
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47641-2002Jul23.html
There are about 50 articles on the web this morning about a new pact between Palm and IBM and this deal seems to go much deeper than when IBM simply sold repainted and rebranded Palm devices a few years ago. We'll have to wait and see how successful it is. Much of the collaboration appears to be around software that ties into IBM's WebSphere software which, so far, has garnered a huge yawn from the corporate market. For example, did you know that Pocket PCs have had a WebSphere client available since April? Didn't think so.
The deal is not exclusive though. "IBM can renegotiate its WebSphere relationship with Microsoft, or Palm can still work with AOL Time Warner Inc., for instance, to give its handheld users access to AOL's widely used instant-messaging program."

Enterprise software made to share data among employees. Hard to get a one sentence on exactly what it does, which may why it has not done so well. More flowery talk than anything.
