Default nPOP FAQ in English

http://npopfaq.briankass.com

As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of nPOP. It's a great POP3 client for your Pocket PC, that goes way beyond the limitations of Inbox as a POP3 client. The author of this freeware program is Japanese, and the FAQ therefor was in Japanese as well. As posted by Brian in the microsoft.public.pocketpc newsgroup, he translated this FAQ in English. So if you're a nPOP user that doesn't speak Japanese, like me, bookmark this page!

I've never been able to get it to work. I always get the message:

" IP ADDRESS ACQUISITION FAILED"

According to the FAQ

2.1 error message "it failed in IP address acquisition".
Please try verifying whether it is connected to Internet.
Please verify whether the POP3 server by mistake is not with setting of the account.
Please try verifying whether it does not appoint the POP3 server with full size even and so on.

What the heck? I have no idea what they are talking about? I've used email for so many years I know I have everything setup correct. I can use any program that connects to the net.... .just not npop....

Any ideas?

I only get that error message when the connection has dropped, the POP3 server is down, or the DNS settings are off. I can use any Internet Connection ( Desktop Passthrough, CF modem dial up, GSM dial up, GPRS) with nPOP, so I'm afraid I can't help you any further. The English translation of the FAQ does sound like an autotranslation (or a Dutch guy doing it...) so I agree, it needs some work...

Thanks for nudging my memory on this one. It certainly is faster than InBox and I'm going to give it a severe attachment bashing this afternoon.

I've also emailed Tomo to see if he can create a send only option. If he does that alone it's worth its weight in gold.

Default Delete Mail

Does anybody miss a delete icon on the "mail view"?
I don't understand how you can NOT have a delete icon while viewing a single mail. I'm usualy going thru the mail by selecting the 1st item and then use the next icon on the toolbar. However, if I want to delete the current item, I have to go back to the index... do I miss something :?:

Cheers Christian
