PlayStation Emulator for the Pocket PC

Yup, you read that right - although there are no screen shots of this thing running, it's apparently real. Not my cup of tea, but if you're hardcore, go check it out...

While this is great for gamers... how many of us have memory to store such a big rom/iso file?

I mean like a full game ISO, you would have to have an a big CF card or a pc/cf card drive.

True. However, not all games use all of a CD. Besides, a lot of the time, most of that space is simply just cutscenes. Those can be removed. Also, I think that some regular games are only like 64 MB.

Regardless of these significant speed and ISO size issues, most PlayStation games are simply unplayable without at least a basic Sony controller

Playstation
I would LOVE to be able to take some of my PS1 games with me on my iPaq. I would especially like to be able to play Legends of Dragoon. The game is going on forever. 8O But I enjoy it. Still I think memory and speed will be a big hurdle. Plus I wonder what will happen if Sony gets wind of this as they are usually real terds about things they do not authorize.

I agree. I have always had a problem with emulators because until there is a connectable controller, usually I think they tend to be hard to play on a PDA.

Only if turned into a commercial project. Sony put Connectix (purchased and then killed project) and Bleem (repetitive lawsuits) both to sleep. The other PS emulators still survive as underground projects.

Controllers and file size-
There are controllers and some hacks (one with the pretty cool and compact Gravis Stinger), but none with analog sticks which some PSX games use.
But storage is more of a problem. I would fathom to guess that most games will still take a couple hundred megabytes. This is a cool little project, but only really useful if you have a microdrive (what's the largest these days?)
I wouldn't mind playing Metal Gear Solid, Tekken 3, or FF 9 on my PPC.
