Their weaknesses have been component remoting and support for SQL Server CE. They are working to fix those weaknesses, and have the most solid PIM sync and application distribution solution out there. They deserve all the success they have had and more.

It's impressive to see that companies like Compaq, Toshiba, Handspring, Palm, Psion, IBM (and Lotus) Symbol, Ericsson, Nokia and many others have teamed with Extended Systems to use there xtndconnect sync.
The XTNDConnect Server is being offered as a migration path for current Palm HotSync server customers.

XTNDConnect Server -- Synchronization with Back Office
By Chris Muench, May 9, 2000
Microsoft ActiveSync is a great tool to synchronize your desktop computer with your Pocket PC. If you are working in a larger organization, you might want to synchronize with a Microsoft Back Office server instead. ActiveSync is not built for this task. Extended Systems created a solution called XTNDConnect Server that masters this objective.
Conclusion
XTNDConnect Server is a great solution for corporate IT divisions that want to keep their mobile workers up-to-date without providing them a desktop PC for synchronization.

Can I Sync Exchange Public Folders?
By Frank McPherson
Microsoft Exchange Server facilitates collaboration between people by sharing information in public folders. If you access public folders using Microsoft Outlook, you might wish to synchronize information in those folders with your Pocket PC. Unfortunately, ActiveSync does not support synchronization with public folders. To synchronize public folder information you will need to use an alternative synchronization program.
One desktop PC product, Intellisync from Puma Technology, supports the synchronization of Exchange public folders with Inbox subfolders.
With Extended Systems’ XTNDConnect Server you can set up synchronization between any Exchange public folder and a number of different Pocket PCs. This product is targeted at companies that want to provide synchronization for multiple Pocket PCs between corporate databases and mail servers. Microsoft and Extended Systems offer a five concurrent user, 60-day trial of XTNDConnect Server. You download the trial copy from Extended Systems’ Web site.
