Get yourself object orientated with eMbedded Visual Basic
http://www.devbuzz.com/content/zinc_evb_simul_oop_pg1.asp
Chris May has written an interesting article, for deVBuzz.com, on simulating Object Oriented Programming using eVB. "Now that we have talked a little about why OOP is a GOOD thing, we come to the real challenge. How can we program in an OO fashion, using a language that is not based on objects and at the same time has no collection objects to work with?"
The article includes a component, the OSIUtil, from Odyssey Software. However, I am glad to know that Pocket PC development will soon be possible using VS.NET (VB.NET and C#)!

waste of time
Since EVB is going the way of the wagon, I think it a waste of time to look into this. If one were doing this as an exercise in OOP, then that would be one thing. However, if you are spending all this time on EVB with the intention of writing great apps for CE, then I think you are mislead. EVB is being discontinued, as is any support from MS on it.

I am also happy for VS.NET and its support for WinCE platform, but there will be no more free tools for development like EVB and EVC++. We will have to buy VS.NET.

EVC lives on
It is my understanding that (and I acutally have a copy of it) EVC 4.0 will be coming out in the near future. Now I don't know what the MS plans are after that time, but I would expect that they would continue in like fashion to offer a separate toolset for Pocket devices. However, in the event that Pocket PC's come to completely dominate the playing field it is possible that MS would get rid of the free dev tool evc.
So while EVB is going the way of the wagon, EVC will remain.

evb is on the out
I'm not sure if it is published or not, but I wouldn't classify it as a rumor either. A number of developers who I have contact with on the development list, who are in dialog with Microsoft, haved confirmed this.
