Default Samsung's i200 Windows Mobile Candybar in the Wild

http://www.theunwired.net/?item=pho...dard-smartphone

"Silently announced during this month's Mobile World Congress, I've just got my hands on a brand new Samsung SGH-i200 (most likely) Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard smartphone. After the Samsung SGH-i300, this is Samsung's first standard candy bar 12-keys phone pad smartphone and therefore it might find its own audience since not everybody want to have BlackBerry kind of device these days. Feature-wise, the SGH-i200 is quite comparable to the SGH-i620/SGH-i640 by featuring triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, singleband UMTS/HSDPA and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. WiFi isn't built-in and also GPS is left. The non-touchscreen measures 2.3" and supports the Windows Mobile typical QVGA resolution in portrait mode. The CMOS main camera supports photos up to 2 megapixel while the front facing camera features VGA only. Not yet confirmed is the internal memory which is expected to be 64 MB RAM and 128 MB ROM. Nevertheless, the memory can be extended with microSD cards."

Good to see Samsung offering more Windows Mobile choices. The device is thin and stylish, but from the specs it seems like Samsung is aiming this for the low end of the smart phone market. Why can't the smart phones in 2008 come standard with quad-band GSM radio? [sigh] This smart phone is slated to hit the European market some time in the first quarter of this year; so we should be hearing more about this device soon. Let's hope that Samsung is planning a version of this device for the US market as well.
