Default Good, focused book on digital photography?

Focused book, get it? ... pun intended!

I'm looking for a good book on digital photography. What I've seen so far are broadbased books that discusss file formats, printing, connecting, selecting a new digital camera, using photo editing software, retouching phots...and about one or two pages on how to take good shots using the manual settings available on today's digicams.

Do you have any suggestions for a good book that is focused on how to use the manual settings on a digicam to take great photos in a myriad of shooting conditions? I'm looking for something other than a Dummies-type book that gives a 10,000 ft. overview of digital photography.
