Default SMT5600 and Media Center 2005 - Will not sync

When I first got my Media Center 2005 up and running (a laborious process, thank you for everyone's help), I was really excited to plug in my new SMT5600 and sync up some TV files. I threw in my 256MB mini-sd card, connected the cable to the computer, and then to the phone...

...only to get an error message saying (paraphrase) "this device cannot be synced in Media Center. Please use Windows Media Player instead."

So, I was a little pissed that it didn't work in the MCE interface, but just to narrow the problem, I did exit and try WM10 to sync. No problem, synced right up and played the TV perfectly.

Exiting everytime I want to sync TV kind of sucks though. And I'd really like to have it transcode in the background while I do other stuff. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?
