Default Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?ContentId=3354

Geekzone has an excellent article that discusses the roadmap of developer tools from Microsoft. Microsoft is about to package its Visual Studio into more editions and thereby better offer developers a product that more precisely their needs. Today, it is more or less one-size-fits-all approach. The interesting aspect from a Smartphone point of view is the announcement of Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition.

"Microsoft Corp. has announced Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition, a development tool for line-of-business application developers building Windows, Web or mobile applications."

This is good news for all the developers that are interested in getting started with .NET Compact Framework development but don't have the cash to buy today's Enterprise Edition. Follow the link to learn more about the different editions!
