Default DroboPro FS: For When You Need To Save The Entire Internet

http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/05/...tic-offsite-ba/

"There are eight total bays within, and a pair of gigabit Ethernet jacks around back; by default, the second port is used to connect to a different subnet (possibly for offsite file replication), while users can opt for a protection mode during setup if they'd rather it act as a fail-safe (in case the primary port kicks the bucket). More important than all of that, though, is the new Drobo Sync feature, which will be exclusive to the DroboPro FS for at least the time being."

While many computers now come with 500GB hard drives, if you are into photos or videos at all, you will soon find yourself running out of space.  Instead of getting an extra hard drive a NAS might be a better option.  If you are a multi-computer household, or a small business, a centralized storage system makes even more sense.  With eight, count them, eight hard drive bays, the DroboPro FS should fit the storage requirements of most households and small businesses.  While the syncing feature is nice, I do not know of many small businesses that figure in remote site backups.  Perhaps if Data Robotics offered a partner program with different data centers, more places would use this feature.
