That actually should read 'There�s nothing like comparing [a pre beta release of one OS] to [the final shiiping version of another] to put each one into proper context.' Yea. Even if it wasn't a fairly reasonable assesment.
I think Macguy59 is right. Too early to do this sort of comparison/contrast. Won't dispute anyone commenting on Windows 8 on it's own merits (or lack) or direction (or lack), but to compare it to a shipping release is kind of stacking the deck. Kind of like comparing a finished house to one that is just framed. You see where it's going, but you wouldn't want to live in it now.
Interesting that Mcguy59 had apparent laginess. I've had no such issue with it installed natively on a PC, and not a powerhouse (Dell Duo). Smoother than I would have expected, given the early state.
