FYI the hole on the top is the ambient sound mic for reducing the noises when talking on the phone, ans sure the betal piece you seen when the back cover's away IS the cover of the miniSDHC slot. Refer to the iFixit teardown of the device. (The iFixit staff himself instantly swapped the SDHC card with a 32GB one when reassembling the devive.)
