Advertising in apps is generally more profitable for smaller developers than paid apps, in my own experience and in talking to others, so the whole "we're not selling as much as iOS" is a bit strained of an argument. And I think Apple's culture of "Better things at higher prices" does trickle down to apps, even though I've bought a few apps on my iPad and iPhone that I wish I hadn't due to quality issues. The amazing thing to me is that this argument is still getting re-hashed over and over again. Android is everywhere now, so obviously the argument can't still be "Android will never get as big/good as iOS because...". You'd have to pay me to use my iPhone over my Android devices!
