Right...the impetus for this survey was the fact that Windows Phone 7 is cloud-based for PIM/email, and I was basically wondering how many people this was going to cause problems for.
No problems here: gave up trying to download email to PDA (now Smartphone) some years ago.
Like some other posters, use a number of web based (cloud....) mail services - gmail, yahoo, earthlink - but primary interaction is via Thunderbird on personal machine. Thunderbird gathers the various accounts into one location (& interface!) and filters incoming messages in a more-or-less intelligent manner. Plus - like PROlenick - I like to know that there is a local copy of at least most of the messages.
Access the online services more-or-less weekly to clean out junk (& check to see what got caught in spam filter that should not have), or if checking mail when away from home machine - gmail, in particular, seems to work well whether on netbook, laptop, or WinMo phone....
