Don't know about the $500 figure - although perhaps that might be possible without the drives. Certainly $2k WITHOUT drives seems excessive: most of the "small businesses" I know would not spring for the more-or-less $2,500 that a Working Drobo (with drives) seems to run....

Then again, many small businesses are lucky if they have ANY data back-up plan in place!

The relative ease & security of Online Backup services is probably a better deal (unless, perhaps, you push a LOT of data each day??).
