Nice review! I'm thinking of an SSD for a Lenovo X100e, mostly to minimize the heat from the left side (a constant annoyance). I think that SSDs always impose a write penalty when shutting down, as caches need to be flushed, buffered-writes completed, etc. so shutdown being slower could be normal. Your difficulties with cloning tools were unfortunate - but a timely reminder for me: I have a Windows 7 Enterprise laptop (from work) that I need to clone, so I wonder if the old reliable tools (Ghost / DriveImage) will still work.
I'd be interested in seeing if there is a difference on a MacBookPro, as I have 'only' a 160GB hard disk right now, so 128GB wouldn't be a horrible swap. Probably get rid of Parallels to save space ...
