This is one of the reasons I still keep a 2nd laptop around...usually one of my old fairly underpowered ones. I download lots of large video files..from anime to movies often in h264 form, and the methods used can take anywhere from minutes to days. Using my low powered laptop for these jobs means I dont need to keep my noisy, heat producing, power sucking pc on for the entire download process.
