Default Amusement Park Season has Arrived!

So, are any of you fans of Amusement Parks? I'm a card-carrying memeber of the American Coaster Enthusiasts and am very excited that parks are opening for the summer. Heck, I even made a fool of myself at Kings Island on Media Day (it involved 50 enthusiasts and pairs of "tighty whities"... don't ask unless you really want to know).

If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check out the coverage at one of the unofficial sites of Cedar Point's new ride: Top Thrill Dragster. 420 feet high, 120 MPH. Sounds like fun to me.

I generally don't try to mix my hobbies (gadgets, PCs, technology, rollercoasters) but, I've been known to take the occassionally on-ride video of a coaster. It's MUCH harder than I would have thought.

Anyone else planning trips to ride some coasters this year? I'm thinking of taking my family to Kings Island this Sunday for Mother's Day. Plus, we'll head to Holiday World (our favorite park) later in the summer. We'd try for Cedar Point but I think we'll save that for next summer during CoasterCon XVII.

Yes - my husband and I with some friends are going to hit Six Flags Great America before the kiddies get out of school.

Just a reminder - no gum/taffy/candy on roller coasters. A girl already died this year from it.

Hopefully with my busy schedual this summer I get some time to go to Islands of Adventure. I've had tickets since last summer that I have not used. Hopefully they aren't expired ops:

I went to Great America (http://www.pgathrills.com/) here in Santa Clara 2 weekends ago. Nice day. Got a little too much sun and lines weren't too bad. Even hit a few rides twice.

Even went on Drop Zone again which I said I wouldn't do.

To all who are interested: If you are (or can be) a member of your local credit union, check them first for coupons or discounted tickets. Tickets at the door are $45.99. If bought online they are $29.99. I got tickets at my credit union for $23.00 even.

Plus for Six Flags Great America (and probably other Six Flags parks too), you can get $10 off for bringing an empty can of coke (coupon printed on the can)

There's a special rating of some of the top theme parks in the current issue of Consumer Reports, btw. But it's disappointing to me because they left off Six Flags Great America. I like it much better than DisneyWorld - many more rides at six flags, and good coasters. I believe it's supposed to have the new Superman roller coaster this year...

Your local CU should also have some sort of discount for Six Flags. Right now I have a coupon for 'Credit Union Days' at six flags Marine World in Vallejo CA. Now through July 31, 2003 it gets up to 6 people in for $24.99. Main gate entrence is usually $43.95

Interesting. I'm not a member of a credit union now, but probably will be next year. I'll keep an eye out for that.

Kevin, your comments bring back a lot of memories for me. I grew up in Eastern Indiana and made many, many trips to Kings Island and Cedar Point. I even cracked a rib on The Beast the first year it was operating!

Have a great time!
