I agree that 50 Fast Digital Camera Techniques is quite good, in fact I had bought it because Larry Berman and Chris Maher were co-authors but I found that even though the tips on photography is great, some of the photoshop references were not. Also it's print quality was not very good, there are references to the color sections in the book which is nice, but it can get tedious.
Overall though, the book is nice for beginners. I still recommend that each user find a book that suits them by spending time in a book store's photography section ;-)
