How To: Tivo to Zune Conversion

Default How To: Tivo to Zune Conversion
Decided I didn't want to pay Tivo $25.00 for the privilege to convert shows I already have recorded, considering I'm already paying them per month as it is!

Just a short pictorial, though I'm sure there's other ways of doing this.

You need to download and install the Tivo Desktop software, this allows you to transfer videos from your Tivo to your computer.


Listing of shows. Pick yours to transfer, yellow exclamation means DRM protected so no go.


Make sure to specify under Preferences where you want the Tivo software to put the video on your hard drive


This is where Tivo's got you, see the bottom item, it's the transferred video with a .tivo extension. It's not watchable off your computer because of that. We'll take care of that in the next step.


You need to download and install Direct Show Filter Dump, it will convert the .tivo extension into a .mpg file


That took about 3-4 minutes


See now there are two files at the bottom, one is the original .tivo file and the other is the new .mpg file


Now onto SPB Mobile DVD for the .mpg to .wmv conversion


Choose Video File instead of DVD, and tell it where to look
