Default Zune at Live Nation

http://www.zune.net/en-US/social/events/2007/06/livenation/default.htm

When it comes to the Zune or really ANY digital media player, there's a lot of noise out there. People talk about the DRM, the battery life, the screen resolution, screen size, the pretty (or not so pretty) user interface, the buttons, the texture of the casing and so many other things. But when you get right down to it, there's only one thing that the Zune is really about. The Zune is about music and videos. I didn't buy my Zune to be a portable picture album. I didn't buy it to play games. I bought it because when I want to listen to music, where ever I am, I want to hook in my headphones and hit play. That's what the Zune is about.

That's why I really like what Microsoft is doing when they team up with Live Nation which has tons of different concerts in many venues around the country to promote the Zune. The first concert is today in Phoenix, AZ but that's only the start. If you attend one of the concerts that Zune is partnered with, take a flyer you can print up from Zune 's Live Nation website. The first 50 people get VIP treatment in the Zune Zone. Lawn chairs, wait staff and maybe even a Zune gift.

In addition to all of this, Zune has a contest up to win one of four trips to see a concert in California, Virginia or Colorado. These are some great venues and come complete with a two day, one night stay in a hotel, airfare, spending money, transportation and a pair of Zune players. Yes, this is a trip for you and a friend or loved one.

I'll be going to see Incubus when the Zune Zone roles into Tampa at the end of August. Hopefully I can sneak in and see what it’s like in there!

Its great to see Microsoft supporting music artists on multiple levels.

Btw, I did buy Zune so I could use it as a "portable photo album" too. I think you got it wrong. Zune is about one thing..."Entertainment".

My usage is...
75% Music & Podcasts & Audio Books
20% Photos & Art
5% Movies & Video - would be higher if it supported Media Center format
0% Books - not currently supported

Well, did you get it so you could listen to music and look at some photos or get it so you could look at photos and listen to some music?

I doubt there's anyone out there who cares more aobut the pictures than the music. Yes, its entertainment...but still primarily music entertainment!

I might agree that the currently available Zune device form factor is better suited for music than photos or video. But Microsoft has said from the very beginning that there will more Zune devices & form factors coming.

If I were to buy Zune for my mom she would use it primarily for photos. She would hook it up to her TV to view photos large scale. And if Zune had a way to share photos device to device over the internet...that would add real value to her life. This is exactly the kind of thing that will attract casual & non-hardcore users to Zune. Zune needs to di things that will get wider appeal.

I'd be more entertained if I didn't have to fast-forward to where I left off in my podcasts! (If I'm lucky enough to remember where I was, that is).

USArcher...did you just call people who listen to music on their MP3 players the hardcore users to prove your point?

No, I was trying to describe someone who probably wouldn't use their Zune device much but needed/wanted it for a specific purpose. I would call that a casual / non-hardcore user.
