Specifically a bus in Seattle, Washington, earlier this year. In the back of said bus was the fearless leader of Thoughts Media, Jason Dunn, and myself, and our discussion rambled over toward Android. Fittingly, a year earlier I had become interested in the platform and was carrying with me a T-Mobile G1, and both Jason and I agreed that the platform was getting bigger and better by the day - the perfect candidate for a new Thoughts Site. But while Jason found Android interesting, he hadn't really "gotten into it" and decided that if a Thoughts Site were to be launched, it would be similar to Apple Thoughts, without his editorial presence. I guess you can see who decided to step up to the challenge of running the site! So what can you expect from us? And who is Android Thoughts? Read on and find out, then post a message and let us know you're as psyched as we are!<MORE />In February 2005, I joined Thoughts Media as a Contributing Editor at Pocket PC Thoughts. Drawn in by the prospect to write for a site I loved to follow as a reader, I soon found out that the solid editorial content, discussion of current news, and periodic frustration-fueled rants were all hallmarks of a unique and awesome reader experience. Here at Android Thoughts, you'll find it's no different. We're going to provide you with original content in the form of expert reviews, quick looks, tutorials, and more. We're also going to discuss current Android news of the day, and we're going to get the community talking about Google's unique phone operating system and the devices (both good and bad) that run it. And once the expected plethora of tablets running Android emerge in greater force, we'll cover those too!

Over the news few days each Editor will publish a short introduction post for themselves, and some of the faces will be familiar to readers of other Thoughts sites. We've also even snagged another Windows Phone MVP to make editorial appearances from time to time, because while the giants may compete for our business, it thankfully doesn't have to be a monogamous relationship! While the bulk of my energy will be devoted over here to Android Thoughts, I'll still continue serving as the News Editor for Windows Phone Thoughts, and will be posting there from time to time. A man can have two smartphone loves!

The smartphone industry continues to provide new surprises ever day, and starting today, we'll keep you informed of the ongoing adventures of our little robot operating system. Today you'll see a number of articles published that we've got ready so far, with more along the way over the next few days! So why not drop a message in the forum and let us know you're ready to join us on the journey!

Congratulations! Definitely been looking forwards to this one as I'm still coming to grips with my new Dell Streak and Android. Shame it's still on 1.6 but O2 are supposed to be releasing and upgrade to 2.1 today or tomorrow, so lots of excitement and learning to be done!

PocketPCThoughts used to be my first stop in the morning for a few years. Now I have a Droid I have more reason to visit your sites...

Good luck with Android Thoughts.

PJE.

PS. If you need some brief reviews of some Apps, I may be able to find time to generate some for you.

As a reluctant convert to Android (lost my iPhone 4 - long story), I'm glad to see Thoughts Media add this site! Hope it fares well and that there is plenty of participation. I'm now reading Apple Thoughts, Laptop Thoughts, Digital Media Thoughts and now Android Thoughts daily!

Thanks for opening the site. I'm looking forward to the "Thoughts Media" treatment of Android! Even though I've moved away from WM over the last couple of years, the PPCThoughts site is always one of my first visits every day. Good luck Jon! I'm sure this will be a great success!

I've been using Windows Mobile for the longest time and visited PocketPCThoughts all the time. Having recently switched to Android, this is great! Good luck!

Awesome. I've been waiting for you guys to open up an Android site. Used WM for ages and Thoughts was one of my most frequently visited sites up until I switched to Android. Looks like I'm back! Thanks!

I'm very happy that this site is now up and running: Jason has been dropping hints for a while. I'm still running WM6.1 but looking to jump to Android in December - WP7 holds no attraction for me at all, at least in the first iteration. All the very best, Jon.

So, when I read between the lines about being on a bus...you were at the MICROSOFT MVP Summit on the bus from your hotel to the MS campus discussing an Android site. ;) LOL

Congratulations and good luck! Android is on the charts with a bullet, you should have great success. Me and my Desire will be checking in regularly.

Stupid browser cache!!! I've been checking every day but missed the grand opening because the cache didn't refresh yesterday!

Anyway, I'm glad to finally see Android Thoughts up and running!!!

Hrm... yea... uh... you might be right about that :)

Then again, if you think MS Windows Phone MVPs are unabashed fanboys, you'd be quite surprised to see the diverse array of devices in use in the room when we meet. My peers all seem to have the same belief on device monogamy. We might be interested in seeing Windows Mobile / Phone succeed and grow, but that doesn't automatically make us want to see other devices/companies fail!

PocketPCThoughts was always one of the best sites for Windows Mobile news back in the day, but I've since switched to Android and this site not only brings back memories, but gets me excited for the future. I'll be a regular visitor here, for sure. :D

The collective energy of the Android community is a real metaphor for an alternative way of being in the world, one which transcends the constraining values of closed systems.

Yay!

PPC Thoughts have been _the_ place to check daily for nearly a decade until May this year when I bought a Desire. The mix of news, rants (I've noticed my Android phone still got Bluetooth) and discussions is unsurpassed anywhere on the net.
I'm just elated to see the Android Thoughts up and running!
