Finally, I don’t have to choose either one or the other! This is what convergence was meant to be. Overall, I’d give the HTC Mogul a rating of 8.5 out of 10. I’d put it on my highly recommended list of devices. In fact, it’s now at the top of my personal “Want” list."</i><br /><br /><img src=http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/htcmogul4-thumb.jpg><br /><br />Holy HTC Device Reviews Batman! Yesterday I posted on a HTC Titan/Mogul review done overseas, today we're looking at the Qwest Mogul, tested out here in the US. Overall I'm a big fan of this device, whatever you want to call it. If I wasn't a GSM customer (and darn happy I am), I'd probably pick a Mogul for my daily driver (It would be weird to have to stick to one device...!)

Oh that really hurt... US CDMA guys (and gals) having to wait for our :bad-words: carrier to get off their :bad-words: to provide a device like this.

Sigh...

Unless you know of a way I can get this device to work on verizon...???

I'm eagerly awaiting the Touch. There will be a firmware update in Jan 08 that will enable Rev A and GPS in both the Touch and the Mogul. Take that, Kaiser!

Where did you hear that?

Enable GPS? Carrier subscription service? I doubt they will enable standalone.

My biggest complaint with this device is not enough RAM. I don't think I will get another WM6 device with less than 128mb RAM.

Sprint will lose me soon though.. Oh wonderful 9502...

Rev A is coming, yes.
GPS--nothing definitive yet, either way.

I monitor the "big 4" Mogul forums religiously, and this is the first time I've heard of this. If there's something you know that we don't, please share how you found this out!

It has 128 RAM.

Specs list it as having only 64MB RAM, but a 256MB flash memory (storage) with about 165MB free.

Only a 400MHz processor, only 64MB RAM, only a QVGA screen. I don't see anything special about this device.

I don't own the Qwest Mogul but have supported a couple of clients who own it. It frustrates me that there's no way to disable JUST Wi-Fi. You have to enable all wireless antenna's (Wi-Fi + Bluetooth) or none at all.

The clients who own the Qwest Mogul have been complaining that the Wi-Fi notifications keep popping up every time they get near a hotspot. How silly is that to not allow customers to disable just the Wi-Fi antenna? And think of the extra battery power it uses.

I called Qwest about it and the representative agreed that it was bad software design. But it's not gonna be fixed until the next Windows Mobile device. They juts can't get these devices right can they? :?

i have had sprint mogul for 3 month now and the most i can say is its mediocre at best. i was excited to get it after i read the specs on qualcomm msm7200 dual core chipset but the reality is the device is sluggish and the battery life is horrible. i do not see any advantages to this dual core architecture and would much rather have a pxa cpu that handles the phone as well and a separate gpu for video processing. my att 8525 was a much better device.

I've discovered myself that all the "2nd gen" phones based on this form factor went backwards. The previous Sprint phone was better than the mogule. The T-Mobile MDA was better than the Wing, and so forth. All previous devices had far better support for software like Microsoft VoiceCommand and Terminal Services (which has been removed in the new ones). I don't know what HTC/the carriers did in the 2nd gen version of these phones but they seriously need to get things on track again.

So you're saying on the Quest device there's no hardware button on the bottom left side of the device that turns off wifi? That's really odd if this is in fact the case. On my Sprint Moguls I have a slide switch on the bottom left side of the device which turns off the wifi radio. Bluetooth and Celluar can be disabled from the comm manager but wifi needs to be turned off via the hardware switch. Also if your clients are using bluefire security's vpn solution ont he mogul, there's a known issue with the software activating the wifi radio even with the hardware switch turned off  , you have to actually turn the hardware switch on for a few seconds then turn it back off for the wifi radio to shut off. That only happens with that software and you should be able to disable the wifi radio independently of the other radios.

Anyone have any information or tips related to this?

Correct. There is no independent Wi-Fi toggle button in the Connection Mananger or hardware button. You're just stuck with Wi-Fi on all the time unless you turn EVERYTHING off (including the phone antenna itself). So people are left to deal with the annoying Wi-Fi indicator pop-up messages all times as well.

The Qwest tech rep admitted it was a design flaw. However, if there is a switch, maybe the tech rep didn't know about it and we both overlooked it 8O

I've had the Qwest Mogul for 4 months and love it! And it DOES have a hardware button to turn off the WiFi. I never have a problem with pop-ups about WiFi and you can turn on bluetooth alone.

Coo. I'm surprised the Qwest tech rep didn't know about the Wi-Fi button either. Tells you how much they know. I'll let me clients know about it and hopefully everyone can be happy. Thanks for the tip.
