Its just a real shame I can't get one in New Zealand. They have no NZ distributor and so I can't get one of these beauties.

Wonder if it would be possible to get an unlocked one. I'd love to use it with my Cingular account. Then I could toss Verizon.

I ordered one last week, and just now noticed that most of the online purchase options today dropped the "pre-order ... available 10-Jul-06" or whatever date they had. I presume (and of course hope) this means that they got stock today.

Cheers

It still looks like this Atom model does not have Soft Keys or an OK button. This make one handed operation very difficult. I think the I-mate JAMmin is a better design (and it's quad band).

How much trouble/lack of service, will I run into having just Tri-Band (minus 850) in the US?

I can't have poor quality of service - afterall, while its a cool PPC it has to be a phone first, otherwise I might as well just have a solid PPC and a separate solid phone.

I used the i-mate jam 900mhz on cingular here in austin and i barely had reception. And when i went to houston for the weekends i couldn't recieve calls, only make calls and a cingular rep told me that was due to 900mhz. so i wouldn't suggest it unless you know if there are 900mhz cingular towers in your area.

but u can always assign the below two buttons to function as soft keys

I'm getting one as soon as I see it in store in Melbourne.
I've wanted an Atom since I first saw them - this one is the same only BETTER.

850MHz and 1900MHz are used quite commonly in the US, so short answer would be "yes". You're better off looking at a quad-band device.

IS the atom Exec, really a deep black color or is it Gray colored?

I know that they changed from its original black piano Gloss look which attracted so many finger prints, but on a website (maybe here), The atom exec looked simply gray colored. Is it still Black??

192MB ROM is a good idea. I've got 128MB in my JAMin and with the OS plus my essential apps, I have less that 20MB left. This is the first time I've ever gone below ~35MB free space on any device I've had, including the 64MB iPaq 3670.

But triband and 802.11b? Someone's not paying attention on a worldwide scale, methinks.

It's still black, but with a matte finish.

You'll have to import one. Expansys Ireland (http://www.expansys.ie/) is one option, though you'll have to wait until they stock some Execs.

Yeah, I tried expansys and they cannot advertise the exec on the irish website ?? but they can order one for me at a cost of €750 - which seems a bit steep to me, I have seen them advertised for $1,099.95 Australian dollars which is €651 at todays rates, so i was just wondering if anyone else knew of another way to get one in Europe.
