http://www.earthcomber.com/splash/index.html

"Users of Windows Mobile-based handhelds now have a new way to shop, travel and comb the surrounding area for anything they want, anywhere they are... To the naked eye, Earthcomber first appears like any other type of navigation software – except that its GPS-enabled maps for all territories in the U.S. are conspicuously missing a price tag. All maps, 'Look Lists' and 'Community' features are entirely free... the power of Earthcomber is its unique exploration ability... Earthcomber's trademark and patent-pending service lets people set up and automate the equivalent of 'play lists,' then searches constantly for vast and diverse personal interests as the user moves around the local landscape or distant destinations."

Earthcomber is really a "value-add" solution for anyone with GPS (and even those without). The key here is the ability to actively notify the users of user-customizable points-of-interests as they move from location-to-location. This service (also referred to as "spot guides") range in price from no-cost to about $19.85... and while the solution is most powerful with a GPS receiver, users without GPS can still use the maps and manually enter their current location to discover desired points-of-interests nearby. Anyone ever use this solution? Let us know your thoughts!
