Native PPC alarms are not perfect.

I would like recommendations for alternative, reliable methods for setting alarms. I usually use my PDA as an alarm clock, to get me out of bed (the time I get up varies day-to-day according to workload, gym partner etc) and for reminders through the day or week. Preferably something that is also resource-light.

Thanks in advance!

This is what I use as an alarm for the mornings, only 41KB and works every time unlike the Windows alarm. Its Freeware.

I use alarmToday from http://www.pocketmax.net to wake up with an MP3 song every day.

Reliable and very customisable. Not free though...

Gilson

Seems OK - but I have a couple of quick questions ...

1, Do I have to leave the application open and running for the alarm to sound?

2, How do I make it only run oncertain days?

Looks like it is a little more limited than I want.. and I could not stop the alarm when I tested it ... :-( I guess this was a bug with my machine, since I run it in full VGA mode.

No, just tape the X, it runs in the background.

I set it every night, but you can set it for the days you want if you have a prgram like MemMaid, or something similiar.
3,could not stop the alarm when I tested it ...
Just hit OK and it will close, (runnuing in the background)
Hope this helps, jmh

Thanks - I tried it a few more times and it definitly seems buggy on this machine (yes, rebooted a few times).

I had a look at AlarmToday and, whilst it is a lot more complex than I was looking for, I will test it out for a few days. Turns out, contrary to my expectations, it actually seems useful to have all appointments, alarms etc listed on the Today screen ... there was my trying to lay off Today plugins too :-(

I use Burr Oak Software pTravelAlarm (http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta.html)

It has always worked for me!

I use Spb Pocket Plus's repeating alarm functionality in conjunction with Burr Oak's Wakeup Tweak (http://www.burroak.on.ca/ptafaq.html#wakeuptweak).

I also use MemMaid, with its duplicate notification remover functionality, to remove the duplicate notifications that WM2003 occasionally creates.

Don't Panic!

Anbody Still using Jonathan Sachs StopTime (http://home.comcast.net/~jonsachs/#StopTime%202.0)? I lived by it in PPC2002.

Update

Been using it for a few days now. The registry fix that it offeres for wakeup seems to work very well. The alarms and other notifications have worked flawlessly all week. I really do like all that information on my Today screen, and I see no noticable slowdown caused by it.

AlarmToday has been added to the list of software I have purchased.

Try CityTime Alarms. They just released a new beta version for PPC and Smartphone.
You can search on the www.modaco.com forums to find the CT Alarms thread.

1) My standard whine: Isn't it sad an expensive computer device can't do what a $5 digital watch can do without hacks and fixes?

2) WolfClock is free, very reliable and has lots of settings for multiple alarms.
