If you use MortPlayer, then you might want to note the release of v3.3 and grab it if you haven't already. The revision history can be found here.

Two quick point/questions

1. The link is broken
2. Is it any better than TCPMP?

Merry Christmas

You can get it through PocketGear (still free!) at this link: http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=11423

Has anyone tried it on a WM5 pda yet like the Dell 51V? I REALLY need one that works well with it.

I haven't tried it but version 3.3 is supposed to add support for Windows Mobile 5.0.

I took one for the team and loaded it up. IT WORKS GREAT ON MY DELL AXIM 51V!!!! I haven't tried every little area as of yet but at least it didn't lock up my device like Vito Sound Explorer did and the best part is that this one is free....for a donation (since it works so well). The only thing that I can't get yet is to the website for some different skins but that is not really an issue at all.

This program rocks, I use it as my primary mp3 player. The ability to easaly create custom skins is awesome, I control all funtions with my fingers using BIG buttons on the screen!

Ps. I works just fine on WM5

The site appears to be down. In a situation like this, patience is a virtue. ;)

2. Is it any better than TCPMP?

In some ways, yes, but in other ways, no. It's actually an apples vs. oranges question. TCPMP has greater focus on video playback while MortPlayer is focused more on audio playback, perhaps offering what WMP Mobile has failed to.

The only thing missing is support for .wma(but I guess a particular company has to licence it)

As for the downtime - the server got too much load, so the provider turned off the site. Seems to have been a bad combination of high traffic due to the update release and some not too well optimized modules...

You can use use PodCasts also by entering the URL in the streams management or "Other path/playlist". But it works only online, i.e. you need a connection that's good enough... I'm planning an offline download for a later update. Also planned for an update is a "delete after play" option for certain folders.

Support of other codecs is possible in theory by plug-ins, but sadly the documentation for the GSPlayer plug-in interface is quite weak, and I don't have lots of experience in this area. Almost all the MP3/Ogg stuff is from GSPlayer (which in return uses MAD and libovd). I think it should be possible to use a hidden WMP for WMA, like many other players are doing it (including TCMP), but I'd first have to get more informations for both interfaces (GSPlayer plug-in and WMP).

* Note to Forum Admins * It took me a fair while before I stumbled across this thread - and I think its good enough to be a sticky page 1!!!

As everyone else has already given this player such a massive thumbs up theres not much left for me to say other than it is absolutely fantastic! As long as Mort is around, I will NEVER use MediaPlayer10 again!!!

To anyone reading this - If you're still using WMP10, download Mort and give it a try. I'll bet you'll never look back.
