Hello people !!

I was just wondering how do you keep the interface of your ppc.

I used to keep everything simple ie default today plug-ins and default layout..no taskbar skinning, no-nothing fancy in other words.

I want to know how do you keep it.

Sunny :) :)

I used to heavily "mod" the interface by creating my own theme packages (WisBar Advance, PocketBreeze, and Today themes) and use them on my device. Now that I'm glued to a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, I quite like the interface, so I've just stuck with the default package and included a few third-party PIM plug-ins here and there. There are some days when the best way is the simple way. ;)

Somedays before, even I used to think that the simple way is the best way. But soon I realised that the today plug-ins are just 'not' enough. I came across pocket breeze. It changed the way I used my PIMs. Everything could be without specially playing with lots of menus..nice and time-saving :D

The main- thing which a particular user has to keep in mind is how programically effective a particular plug-in is. Let me give you an example..there are plethora of today-plugins and taskbar managers which 'really' make your today screen or taskbar look fancy and great, but they give your pocket pc a 'overall' slowdown. So while 'going-in' for a particular plug-in, make sure to have the one from a 'good' developer or a 'good' software house(example OmegaOne, SPB, wisbar etc)

I used to keep my Today screen fairly clean, just the date, a few appointments, etc. But then I realized how many screen taps I can save by using PocketPlus to keep application icons on the Today screen. It's a bit cluttered, but it's TONS faster (don't ask me how much speed is in a ton, though).

I have nothing visible on the screen, just an image (black and blue swirls I made with a scanner one creative morning). At the top, a black icbar, with a small date and time in blue in the right-hand corner. Either side of the date and time are blacked-out (and thus invisible) buttons for volume etc., and the button for closing programmes is also just a thin blue cross on a black background. I use CLaunch, set to make the 5 or 6 icons I use most frequently appear and disappear from the Today with a single tap. The bottom gray bar is also blacked out.

It might sound weird, but as I use my unit mainly for writing and storing text I feel this minimalist approach encourages me to use the unit more productively. I have written three quarters of a book on it so far!

I've tried several different combinations of virtually everything out there, and I have to conclude that simple is good.

...Where's the file upload feature?

Right here (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/media/users/3482/Upload.GIF).

Yet again, subscription has its benefits. ;)

I don't like either option. My today screen is simple and uncluttered, but I do use Pocket Plus. I don't "modify everything" or use every plugin/taskbar program out there either though. I do keep my Pocket Plus plugin pretty minimal - one row of small icons only, no tabs - this means I have only 7 program icons with the battery icon there. Still saves me time though.

Looks like most of you guys dont like microsoft interface..yeah I know, its simple, but sonner or later you will realize that how many taps are needed to do a particular job.
HP relised this and they started to bundle a "today applicaiton launcher" with their iPAQs(hx4700, hx2000 series).

Also, its nice to have weather on a today-plugin,rather than having it on a particular application.

I dont know why MS dont like the pocket pc to be effective. It really hurts me.

I heavily modify my screen. I'll show you what the update to my Navigator skin suite will look like once I finish it (still some QVGA stuff to do). :)

As you can see, it isn't much "Microsoft" :D
