So this is my second WM5 device (hx2495), and I can't stand the stupid WiFi Icon.

Why isn't it 5 bars describing it's strenght, like it should be, and is on basically every other wifi device?

Okay, now that I got that out of my system,

How can I change it show it is displayed like that (bars instead of some tower)? Also, is it possible to seperate my WiFi and AS icons?

Thanks.

I feel your pain! Dell has a nice meter (bars format) that resides in the tray.

I've searched hi and low at 5 different software sites. No luck. I did find a cool free WiFi utility though. I havent installed it yet but maybe it has a tray icon or similar.

Check it out here...

Hopefully someone else knows where to find a decent meter.

I also found WiFi Companion (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=111F9DX455E94956491C475A5CBXCFCE&platformId=2&N=96806%2034&productId=177797&R=177797/url)

Looking at the user guide it describes WiFi Meter and Signal icons. I think this may do the trick. Cost is $22.49 from Handango.

I found out something interesting. Windows Mobile 5 for Smart Phone has the bar graph icon while Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC (iPaq's) has the Tower looking icon.

Why MS did that I have no idea. I wonder if there is a registry setting that will display the bar graph icon instead of the tower?
