I downloaded it and ran it on my iPAQ 5550. It works fine, but I'm not sure the game is that strong. I played in Expert Mode, which takes a long time between moves, and still found it giving me double jump opportunities. I'm no checkers expert, so don't expect a challenging game.

Well that stinks.. I like to play games with my fiance while we wait for the food to get to the table when eating out.

IR battleship is realy fun. IR cheackers would be really cool to but I could live with 2 on one device.
Oh well.

I've had the ir battleship since my first pocket pc. It is part of the microsoft entertainment pack.

Handmark's also supports ir if you are looking for a nicer version.

I didn't see any message about having to register using their Web site. I got the registration code in the E-mail, typed it in the registration screen on my iPAQ and the game played fine.

Did you use the same name when "purchasing" the product that you do in your Owner Information?

Have you tried PDAmill's Snails (http://www.snailsgame.com)? It supports two-player games.

Unfortunately, yes. I believe it lasted for just under a day.

I would have been surprised if it had lasted a full day. This deal was posted all over the Pocket PC sites.

Don't feel too badly, though -- as I mentioned, the game isn't that good. If it were a freeware game, it would be a good start. For commercial software, I couldn't recommend it. The theme sensitivity is a cool feature, though (if you have Windows Mobile 5).

I HAVE PROBLEMS

I have a Dell Axim x50v and a 1GB SD card. I don't know if I have a VGA compatibility problem, an SD program installation problem or a bad program download problem, or just simply a bug in the program --- but, my copy of Orneta Checkers will get wide white horizontal banding under the following game conditions:

1) Making an "Illegal move" of the selected piece,
2) Making the second jump of a double jump situation.

Further, I agree with Pony99CA's comments that the the game (even at the expert playing level) is NO CHALLANGE!! Even when I make a mistake and find myself playing at a disadvantage, I have learned to wait for the computer to make its own mistake - usually giving me double jump situations. Other times its just makes DUMB MOVES - passing up obvious opportunities to take advantage of my mistakes or openings (ususally moving up pieces from the rear ranks, rather than pushing the issue up front).

For all the time is spends "Thinking", I expected better. I have yet to loose a game, and I have not played a game of checkers in 40 or 45 years.

I'm just glad I didn't pay for the game. I doubt if I will keep it on my x50v unless I can solve the irritating white banding problem.
