After reading some posts from previous threads, it became apparent that a lot of you thought the 200MHz OMAP 850 processor was somewhat of a concern, but according to the review, there's little to worry about. And sure, the device is a little thicker than the HTC Magician, but with a slide-out keyboard, I ain't complaining. ;)

Translation: Dutch to English (Babel Fish)

Approx 25% thicker than the JAM so about 2.3 cm (JAM is 1.81 cm). This is the same as the Treo 650 that I have at the moment. A bit fat but quite pocketable.

EDIT: no need to rely on my calculation as this info is in the the article - perhaps I should have read it before posting

200mhz?

Whats the deal with the low powered CPUs coming out. I don't except the power argument, because with WM5.0 we'll get a power boost.

Indeed. Watching the awful speed results of the ipaq 6310 (yes, sure, it works with the normal "office" apps, but if you want anything more i.e. games, movies, emulation etc.,...), this won't be my device.

You know my next sentence, don't you?
"HTC Universal, where art thou?..."

Out of interest.... with all these pictures coming out, does this mean that the device itself is going to be with us soon?

Expansys (UK) already have it as a 'pre-order' item - so is there a committed or even provisional delivery date?

Call me crazy........ but I think this article makes it look much much smaller to me that the previous articles and pictures that I have seen........

Trust me - you should never use an Expansys 'pre-order' page as a measure of availability...! They set one of those pages up pretty much as soon as they hear of a device - they probably haven't even put in an order themselves yet (one Pocket PC was availabe for pre-order for nearly two years - before they removed it without ever having offered it for sale).

And even if it's orderable and in stock, don't trust them. While Expansys can often be a good, fairly safe source for hard to get items, they have, shall we say, a broad interpretation of what "in stock" means :D

I know camera angles can really confuse things, but it looks down-right tiny in the shot with the hands holding the device with the keyboard exposed. I really think this could be the best converged device released yet. Just not sure I'm willing to give up VGA at this point - as I have come to rely on Terminal Services to get work done while traveling and the VGA experience is usable, while QVGA, not so much.

I'm starting to lean towards a SmartPhone - VGA PPC combo, as that will probably be the most productive for me - and those two Q-tek phones displayed in the article just might fit the bill. I could carry one of those around without too much trouble - just wish a clamshell was available.

Good luck - Outlook and my C500 played nicely with each other, but frooze out my x50V, so I never had ALL my contacts on ALL 3 devices. I now use an MDA Compact (HTC Magician) and plan to sell the Axim and the SMartphone. Others have got them to work (I believe Jason has) but it never worked for me. Shame, as the VAG screen was so nice.

When my contract is up, it's the HTC Universal for me.
