Sad to say, but 1GB is no longer sufficient for me. Now, its 2GB or bust :D Amazingly, it wasn't that long ago that 512MB was more than enough for me.

It does look cool. Of course, to inject at least one negative into it, that "flip" looks like its begging to be broken :)

These days, 1GB can be considered small for Pocket PCs, but I'd still love to have one of these in my digital camera. Bye-bye to the SD card reader. ;)

I've been wanting to buy one of these. And the connector is small, yes, but I suppose it's like anything else - you'd just have to be a little careful with it, but I think it would be OK.

Not just the connector, but those hinges too.

I worry about those hinges in terms of how trong and resistant to repeated usage. It would be wast money if it was weak and breaks after a few usage!
But overall a great idea!!

Too bad I already have three 1GB high-speed SD cards and have just bought three 2GB high-speed SD cards :( I can't afford to buy more, nor have use for any more (unless I can somehow offload the existing cards).


P.S. I've said this before, but what would be even more awesome is if the USB SD flip adapter thingy is actually modular and takes miniSD or microSD cards.

As usual, a good idea that comes too late: most of the millions of us who already have a few SD cards need a card reader anyway. So this much more expensive card ($110 vs $80 for the 1 GB Ultra II; that's an almost 40% price markup :evil:) will only be of interest to a few fortunate people who are willing to get rid of all their SD cards in favor of this one.

If Sandisk had made this part of the early SD design it would have been heaven, this is only #€!! in disguise; doesn't the wise man say: "The road to #€!! is paved with good intentions"?

Maybe #€!! is a little too much, but 1) a lot more expensive, and 2) 3 weak parts that are prone to breaking, that's too much for me!!

Especially when I can get about 3x 1GB for the price of 2 of these 8).

A good idea, but sandisk didn't come up with it ;-)

I have had one for a while (in 512MB) although the design is better than the sandisk as it has a slip on cover rather than hinges that will most likely break over time....

For less than $30 you can get Card Export II, which lets you use your PPC as a card reader.

Yes, it may be small, by physical size and by capacity for some of you. Personally, I think this thing is really cool. I've been using it for a few weeks now and can transport everything I need to between each of my machines with a card that fits in my pocket and needs no other accessories.

I wish I had know there were others out there sooner!

So many pessimists... I think this thing is awesome no matter who came up w/ it first and no matter how late it is to the market... I cant' warrant buying a new card but if i was in the market for a new SD card I would pay the premium for this one w/o a question... countless times I've wanted to put something on or take something off of my SD card w/ no card reader in sight so I end up having to use my USB flash drive assuming I have it on me (which is not often)... I'm all about consolidation!!!

Looks nice, all they need to do is bring out 2 and 4GB versions and I'll consider buying one. It's the simplest and quickest way of moving files from my h2210 to someones desktop or between desktops.

I only have 1 SD card which stays in my h2210 so I've never bought an SD reader. I have a mix of other cards including CF, SD, XD which a reader for the first 2.

doesn't even have a flap, I think the Sandisk will continue working even if the hinge breaks. Of course, there's only one way to make sure. Has anybody bought one yet?
