What is a good alternate to IE for PPC 2003?

I'd really like something that I can turn 90 degrees to landscape mode.

of course, freeware is always preferable

(sorry if this thread has been done - I searched a bit and was unsuccessful)

I use Pocket IE Plus http://www.reensoft.com/PIEPlus/

Thunderhawk is good...but its not free. Its actually quite expensive too. And when I went through a 2 month trial of it, I had problems with it on using certain bulletin board sites.

Great idea, but I havent found another one yet either that can do landscape mode. Let me know if you find one.

I used to use NetFront but I've moved to a VGA device.
Currently I'm demo-ing PIEPlus. I haven't decided it I want to purchase it yet or not.
PIE is just so slow and Plus doesn't help much.

I wish Access would release Netfront 3.2 :(

I wish Opera would release a version for the PPC. I love opera and it runs super fast even on an old Thinkpad 366mhz that I use at home on the wifi network.

I use NetFront (with the JVLite), and I've been pleased with it so far. As posted earlier, I don't think it works well with VGA devices, but for my pitiful QVGA display, it works quite well. I was thinking about Thunderhawk, but I'm not a big fan of software subscriptions.

I use ftxPBrowser (http://park15.wakwak.com/~ftx/ftxp3e/). Good freeware that is based on IE, doing tabs and fullscreen.

Not good on downloads though...

Screenshot of it in fullscreen, landscape:

With some manual hacking, it does. See for example http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35343 on this.

Yeah, it's pretty good. Too bad it doesn't support the 'One column' rendering mode of WM2003SE PIE.

You're mini-review doesn't really say anything about whats new. My biggest concern is the fact that PIE and by virtue PIEPlus is just so slow.

Honestly I don't know why this is. Even PocketOutlook is so slow. When I tried nPop for email I was shocked at how fast it was.

There's something strange going on at Redmond. But its going on slooowly.

Netfront was always my browser of choice on my qVGA device. I just wish for an update. Or Opera. Or Minimo.

PIE is indeed slow. At plain HTML rendering, it has the same speed as NetFront 3.x; at rendering pages with multiple images (smileys etc), however, it becomes much slower. You may want to check out http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36376 on this subject (NetFront vs. PIE speed benchmarks).
