i bought a hx4700 over the weekend, and i love everything about it, but i was upset that it didnt come with nevo. i used to have nevo on my 2215 and i loved it, i would have thought that such an expensive unit would come with one.
is the IR not consumer grade on the hx4700, or did HP decide not to include nevo?
i still love this thing, and i am going to use it as a GPS in my car.

is there a program thats like nevo out there? something that looks nice like it also?

No, no CIR in the 4700. There are other remote control programs, such as TotalRemote, but you won't get much range.

I used the TV Remote application with my Ipaq 5555. I would at least check it out.

There are several pure software-based solutions (see the links in the below-linked PPCMag thread), but the range will be pretty limited. You may, therefore, want to go straight for an external, long-range IR sender LED that simply must be inserted in the headphone jack. It makes even non-long-range PDA's able to remote control devices far away. The two most prominent HW + SW combos are UltraMote ( http://www.ultramote.com/ ) and Total Remote ( http://www.griffintechnology.com/software/software_totalremote.html ).

You may also want to check out http://www.pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14454 on the subject.

thanks for the info guys.

i tried the demo for total remote, and while i liked the program, the range did lack, so i guess i will probably end up buying the IR extender.

thanks again for the help and quick replies :)
