I have a couple of BT related questions about my Imate PPCPE.
1. How do I check which BT stack my device has? I am running the WM2003SE ROM (unofficial - but working just fine).
2. I have seen people post some pictures of them configuring BT on their devices and it seems like they have some sort of BT manager or BT connection manager thing on their devices which I do not have. I will paste the screen images of this BT connection manager which I am talking about. Where do they get it and is it because they are running a different stack?
I am supposed to be running the MS stack and i am going to try to install the widcomm stack today. Lets see what happens.
Hmmm how do I add an image to this post? :)

In the bottom taskbar tap on the Bluetooth icon, choose Bluetooth settings/about and it should show you your version and build number.

Thanx Paragon. I've been wondering about how to do that for some time now. Now for a question, is a BT stack like an Operating System where the company may release "updates" that you should download? I have BT-PPC Version 1.6.0 Build 0600 from Broadcom Corporation. Should I be checking for updates or something?
Don't mean to hi-jack your thread humayuni. But you asked a question I've been wanting to ask for a while now  .

Yes, BT stack upgrades are pretty common, at least on the desktop. On PDA's, they're not as common, but, now and then, some upgrades are released. Just follow any PPC PDA forums, you'll be notified when they come. For example, PPCThoughts was the first to introduce the beta of the new Broadcom upgrade before the "real" release of 1.6.0 Build 0600. An example of threads like this is http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83866 , http://www.firstloox.org//forums/showthread.php?t=3145 , http://www.firstloox.org//forums/showthread.php?t=2922 etc.

That is technically an unofficial update. Ocassionally something like Braodcom's v1.60 will hit the public airwaves. Normally Bluetooth updates come in the form of an date/patch from your OEM.

Thanx guys. It sounds like you're saying that I probably have the most current version which is good but surprising since I've had my 4150 for a couple of years now.
Thanx for the info.

In the bottom taskbar tap on the Bluetooth icon, choose Bluetooth settings/about and it should show you your version and build number.
Thats the thing. When I click on the taskbar bluetoth icon, it opens the Bluetooth settings. There are two tabs, one with the options to turn on BT and make the device discoverable and the other called Devices to find and bond with other devices. There is no About anywhere.
Maybe this it because of my BT Stack? Does the BT settings program in WM depend on the stack? i.e. my stack will have a different program to manager the settings and some other stack may have another interface?
This would also explain my 2nd question in this post about the BT connection wizard program who's screenshots some people have pasted but i dont have it on my ppc.

Yes, to my knowledge, 1.6.0 Build 0600 is the latest version publicly available.

Unfortunately, you have the MS BT stack, this is why you don't see the About tab / don't have the same connection screens as Widcomm users.

You're right Menneisyys, it is the MS Stack I have... but not for long, I just downloaded the widdcomm stack and i'm gonna update it now.
Worst case scenario, i'll have tohard reset my device, but i'm planning to do that anyway since i'm gonna install all aps on my new 1gb SD card about which you are answering my questions in another thread :) (btw, i have one more question for you there).
Thanks

If you have the MS Bluetooth stack and have an iMate, which do you have, the JAM or the iMate (XDAII)
If you are using the JAM and successfully install the Widcomm stack please post and let us know.

Also follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83866 - a forum member named walshie_au has even offered 100 euros for anyone that manages to get the Widcomm BT stack working on the Jam. Hopefully there will be some results...

I have the MS Bluetooth stack on the Imate (not the JAM) i.e. the Himalaya (and not magician). I performed the Widcomm update according to the XDA Developers thread (the same one which Menneisyys has pasted a link to) and it worked.
I am now finally communicating (via BT) with devices I could never exchange files and information to and from ever before.
Happiness! :)
