I'm interested in buying a hx4700.

Will my Zeta gamepad (works on 38xx and 39xx series) work on the 4700 and Windows 2003? The connector seems the same...

Is the touchpad easy to operate for normal (non-gaming) use? I read quite a few people complaining it's much worse than a normal buttonpad.

Thx!

No, not in the least. Some people seem to find a way to make it work, but in general, your best bet is to try and forget that it's there.

I've had my 4700 for a few months now and I find the touchpad is great once you get used to it. Previously I used a 2210 and for ebook reading the D pad was a trifle erratic. I find that the sensitivity of the touchpad on the 4700 makes for very easy use.

With regards to use for gaming, I am not a great Pocket PC game player (mainly Solitare and Jawbreaker, sometimes Majhong) so I can't comment on it's usefulness for action games.

Hope this is of some help

I can't tell you about the Zeta but I can tell you I have used the Benq gamepad designed for the 3800 series for my 2215. As far as I know the HP's use the same connector scheme so theroetically it should work. (unless theres some issue with D control with it having a touchpad vrs the standard 5 inputs).

Thanks, I think the port is the same, from all the data I've read from tests and reviews on the net.

However, the driver is for Windows 2002. So the question will be if it works on Windows 2003 SE... I don't have a PDA with 2003SE so I cannot test it.

I think BENQ's was all WM2002 as well. The drivers when intalling it did not mention 2003 at all.

I would say give it a try but don't base your purchase on if that works or not. Unless you can find someone using those specs with a Zeta pad.

I was trying to find that for a long time to try before I went to Benq's controller and hacked it up to get it working on my 2215 (You have to remove some hardware portions to get the 2215 to fit).

For gaming I use the Micro Keyboard/ thumboard from HP. It works well if you have smallish hands!!!
