I have always used Plus! MP3 Audio Converter to convert my huge MP3s onto my device in order to be able to fit anywhere from 2x to 3x more files than usual.

I wanted to know if anyone else out there is having my problems. When i play regular 192kbps on Windows media player i have absolutely no problems (atleast none that i care about). When i use 48kbps or 64 kbps windows media player tends to cut out. It will seem to pause, but when i hit play again it gets all chopped up and skippy until the song is over then the next song plays and everything is Good again. Until about 3-10 minutes later it happens AGAIN .

Do i have a ghost on my Dell Axim(X5)? Or are other people seeing this problem too? I love to save SPACE!!! So i don't want to have to use MP3s.

Have you tried using another piece of software to do this? If you own the full version of Nero, you can do this. Otherwise, CDex (http://www.cdex.n3.net/) is always a nice, free alternative. I get the feeling that your audio files aren't being encoded properly.

OK i'll try another program. I was thinking of doing that too. Anyone have any other suggestions as far as programs or help?

My only suggestion doesn't really address your problem, but...

Transcoding from one compressed audio format to another format or another bitrate in the same format loses a lot of quality. You're taking something that's lossy, and using lossy compression on it. For the 2nd round of compression you're not guaranteed to "lose" the same information as the first time--you might be losing "real" information and keeping "guessed" information.

Overally I highly recommend re-ripping from CD at the lower rate instead of transcoding. Can't be helped for iTunes-style purchases, though.

PS - I also use CDex.
