Podcast Support Comming Soon?

Does this mean that we may have a Podcast management update sooner than expected?&quot;</em> </p><p><img alt="" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/zt/2007/zune-net-podcast-011907.jpg" /></p><p>Some enterprising individuals have discovered a few tidbits that might just indicate Zune will be getting podcast support sooner than thought.&nbsp; First, there's an updated page on zune.net which mentions podcasts and features a podcast partner, which can be seen <a target="_blank" href="http://www.zune.net/en-us/social/passiton.htm">here</a>.&nbsp; Also, an image was discovered on NPR's website which indicates support for Zune podcasts.&nbsp; You can see that image <a target="_blank" href="http://media.npr.org/images/podcasts/ui/zune.gif ">here</a>.&nbsp; You can read all about this little discover by following the link at the top of this post.&nbsp; All in all, this is some exciting news!&nbsp; We've been told that podcast support was on Microsoft's To-Do list, but I had a feeling it would be a while.&nbsp;&nbsp; Now I'm hoping we'll see an update before too long.</p>

just 'cause i can't be content with simplicity.... i download podcasts with itunes (former ipod owner) and the zune software automatically puts them into my library as music files. so far it just requires me to download my pods before i sync, but what's another 2min? works for most video podcasts too. zune software even found album art for almost all of them. i'm grateful it works... can't go too long without my Don & Mike Show.

It's funny/sad: Microsoft has had people telling them how important podcast support is for a couple of years now. I remember in early 2006 (or was it late 2005?) being in a room with Chris Pirillo and Jake Ludington, looking at the then-secret Windows Media Player 11, and the team was told over and over that podcasting support was important...and they didn't seem to think so.

That is just sad. Talk about having your blinders on. Sure, in the grand scheme of MP3/DAP/DMP world, podcast listeners aren't an overwhelming number, but it is a significant and growing segment. More importantly though, that segment is comprised of the users who are going to have the loudest and (many times) most influential voice in the market.
