Does anybody know of any free, basic graphic editors for the desktop? All I need is something that can resize, resample, rotate pictures so they are more suitable for transfer onto my ppc (and website).

I know adobe photoshop starter pack is one but I can't seem to register the freeware program, probably due to my firewall not letting the registration server have access.

Any alternatives?

Thanks!

Have you looked into The GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/windows/)? It's supposed to be very powerful.

Also, a :google: on Photoshop free alternative found Ultimate Paint (http://ultimatepaint.j-t-l.com/) (and probably others).

For the features that you listed Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) is the tool of choice. It is FREE to non commercial users and provides a great number of useful functions including all of those mentioned in your post.

If you need a 'real' graphic editor that does much more than what you requested then you will find that the FREEWARE GIMP 2.0 (http://www.gimp.org/) is a very powerful tool.

For what you want to do Irfanview is the best choice!

I third the GIMP recommendation. Before 2.0 I might have included a caution about the (once) atrocious interface, but the program's really been turned around at this release. It's much more stable as well.
