<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.wifive.net/' target='_blank'>http://www.wifive.net/</a><br /><br /></div>"WiFive Phone is the wireless VoIP application that combines the Mobility of a PDA with the Economical Efficiency of IP Telephony service. WiFive Phone lets users make a call to another PDA, PC or PSTN, and allows the service provider to build up a VoIP service platform unifying Wired and Wireless by interworking with wire-based Web Telephony service. WiFive Phone is the best solution that makes up for Handheld Devices' defects by using Polypix's Audio Streaming technology and Optimizing technology. Users can enjoy high-quality Communication service from now on."<br /><br />Looks like another potentially useful VoIP platform for Pocket PCs. I haven't played much with them, but it seems like the test version is a free download for Pocket PC 2002 and WM2003 devices.

This program has been out for a while now. Polypix is great for pda to pda communications. It looks like the improved the UI and and re-badged it. I'll have to compare this new version to the old version I have.

Will this work with, or has anyone tried this with Vonage (http://www.vonage.com/?refer_id=leviz)?

I have a thread HERE (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25735) on VOIP. I'm testing VOIP with my HP 2215, SSL VPN with Cisco's 3005 Concentrator, and bluetooth head-set. Going to give this a try with our IP phone system. I'll download this too and see if it works in the above system. :)

What is the difference between this and Microsoft Portrait, except of the fact, that this app doesn't seem to send/recieve video?

To the two people who tried to call me using this software sorry I did not answer. I was watching TV in the other room.
I will be online until 22.30 GMT - 17.30 EST tonight if anyone wants to try calling again and test this software.
My number is 80002533.

Colin

P.S. Oh I am getting close to 100 posts. :D

I definitely heard you, Colin (don't know if you heard me). Couldn't understand a word though. Lots of noise and sounds.
Did you manage to have a decent conversation sofar?

All I could hear was a popping static sound and my voice echoing back. Thought I heard another voice but nothing I could make out. Shame.
I am just signing up for the Skype PPC Beta program so hopefully that will be better.

Doesn't look like it will work with vonage. This softphone uses H.323 protocol and vonage uses SIP. I have vonage softphone on my ipaq's but I'm using xten's xphone.

Are you using the free x-ten lite software, or did you pay for the "full" version?

Also, what are the settings one needs to know to point x-ten to Vonage's servers using their Vonage account?

Also also, why aren't you using the Vonage softphone? is the version of the software that you have tied to your Vonage account, or could any Vonage user use it? Must one pay Vonage the $10/month to use their softphone?

I'm using the full version of xphone on my 5555. I tried the lite version but the pro version allows me to log into my vonage softphone account and free world dialup at the same time.

Vonage actually uses both x-phone and sj-phone but these are desktop versions only. Vonage doesn't provide a pocketpc version but I found the proxy information and plugged it into sjphone and x-phone for the ppc and it works very well. You do have to pay $10/mo for the softphone service though. I wish you could just tie into you regular phone and use that but so far you can't. Once you get your softphone account activated you setup x-pro and sjphone with sip proxy 216.115.198:5061 the domain is sphone.vopr.onage.net and input your username which is your area code + phone number and password. I've had my vonage home service over a year now and it's great, I've had the softphone service ever since it came out. A few malls here have wifi in them and it's fun to use my 5555 and bluetooth headset to make phone calls while strolling through the mall.

Thanks for the input, Kid... I just can't see paying an extra $10/month to use the same service plan that I have hooked up at home... Hopefully Vonage will open this up...

On the Vonage (http://www.vonage.com/?refer_id=leviz) note... I'm in my first month of usage and so far, after the initial setup, I'm in love... it's great! And getting voicemail on my WiFi enabled pocket pc is pretty cool too!
