<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.muvee.com?promo=jdunn' target='_blank'>http://www.muvee.com?promo=jdunn</a><br /><br /></div>Long-time Pocket PC Thoughts readers know that <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9010">I'm a huge fan of muvee</a>, but perhaps the most significant limitation of the software was the inability to tag a specific scene from a video clip and make sure that it was included. There were various strategies for dealing with this limitation, but they were kludges. Back when I first realized this was a problem, I visualized a very simple UI for allowing people to select the clips they wanted to ensure was in the final video - and what muvee came up with was almost identical to what I had envisioned. They have some smart people working for them! This new version of muvee offers the same 225 kbps WMV template for Pocket PCs, which is outdated, but this new version should make it even easier for you to include those perfect moments in your videos. They have a free demo, so <a href="http://www.muvee.com?promo=jdunn">download it today and check it out!</a><br /><br />"muvee Technologies, the pioneer in automatic video production, is proud to launch the new muvee autoProducer 3 with revolutionary magicMoments™ technology for fast and easy home movie-making. magicMoments now gives users more control over the content of their muvee productions by letting them quickly highlight their ”must-have‘ shots for inclusion in the final production with a simple Thumbs-Up button. Shots that must be excluded get the Thumbs-Down. <br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/muvee-magicmoments.jpg" /> <br /><br />In minutes, muvee autoProducer takes care of all the editing by combining the chosen highlights with automatically-selected scenes from the remaining video footage. The software also automatically adds in effects and transitions that are carefully selected to give the final production a professional touch and "style". muvee autoProducer comes with 24 built-in styles, which range from kids‘ styles featuring cartoon overlays, to slow-motion romantic ones with long fades. Users can instantly change the look and feel of their video productions simply by applying different styles. Additional plug-in styles can also be downloaded from muvee‘s styleLabs at <a href="www.muvee.com/website/stylelabs.php">www.muvee.com/website/stylelabs.php</a>, where new styles are released every week. <br /><!><br />Dr. Pete Kellock, founder and CEO of muvee Technologies said, —We‘re very excited about introducing magicMoments to everyone, as this new technology now lets you make videos just the way you want œ automatically. muvee autoProducer‘s Artistic Intelligence does a good job of automatically picking out the best shots from raw footage, but we couldn‘t always guarantee that your wedding kiss was included in the final production, or that your ex-girlfriend‘s face was excluded. magicMoments addresses this, so that users can now quickly mark the most crucial shots, and leave the remaining footage to muvee‘s intelligent auto-editing abilities. It‘s just as quick and simple to use, but the results are even more satisfying.“ <br /><br />Designed to be fast, easy and fun, the award-winning muvee autoProducer is a user-friendly PC application that enables anyone to automatically turn dull home videos and pictures into professional-looking productions. Users simply add in their videos and pictures, choose some music, and apply a creative editing style. Within minutes, muvee autoProducer analyzes the footage to pick out key scenes, before automatically cutting these video highlights to the music, with cool effects and transitions synchronized to the beat. <br /><br />muvee autoProducer 3 with magicMoments is now available in English at ⁄ 49,95 from <a href="www.muvee.com">www.muvee.com</a>. muvee Technologies will release this version of the software in 16 other languages in May 2004. <br /><br /><b>About muvee Technologies </b><br />Founded in 2001, muvee Technologies is a privately held company headquartered in Singapore with a subsidiary, muvee Technologies, Inc. in New York. y'know that windows movie maker 2 does exactly the same thing as muvee if you look hard enough ;)

Movie Maker's "AutoMovie" feature is very, very poor in comparison to muvee's. Have you tried muvee? I don't see how anyone could say it's the same thing... 8O

If Movie Maker meets your needs, that's great, but it's a very different approach than what muvee offers.

Does it work with still photos, too? I don't really do much digital video making, but if this could turn my photos into an organized flick, that'd be pretty cool.

Yup, it works nicely with photos, although I prefer Photo Story for that personally (better quality).

I feel a little bit peeved that I have to pay $19.99 for an upgrade which only adds a "new feature" at this rate this software could get very expensive if this is the policy on new features. Surely, a 3.1 release, is what is required here, and free :?

Yeah, I agree with you on that - they should have added several new features and just called it 4.0. Adding one new feature (I think there's only one new feature) and charging $19.99 for it is a bit odd. But I guess you can look at it this way: if you were happy with muvee before this week, you should still be happy with it. ;-)

Lovely. I just purchased Muvee Autoproducer two weeks ago, and now I get to shell out another $20 for an upgrade? Gah. On the other hand, I've found this software to be almost perfect, and I think this upgrade will get rid of the few remaining problems I had with it. It's GREAT for taking hours of vacation videos and editing them down to 30 minutes or so before burning to DVD. And I second Jason's comment - Movie Maker's capabilities don't even get close to Muvee Autoproducer!

For the $19 they should through in a few styles as an incentive to upgrade, I agree with Ipaq2210, the total cost of ownership is ending up being quite high. I am going to email them with my suggestion and see what they will do.

In any case, I don't do a lot of this so Automovie does the trick for me.

I'm in the same boat. I purchased version 2.x in August, then paid for an upgrade to autoproducer in December. Now if I go with this upgrade, I'll have paid over $100CA for this software. Of course, I could choose not to upgrade, but that feature is a pretty good one.

It would be nice if they offered a grace period where you'd be eligible for the next update.

I got my reply from muvee. They thanked me for taking the time to write but indicated that magicMoments is a prety major feature, hence the cost to upgrade. They also indicated that they have included a low res preview to address some choppy display issues, and you will now have the ability to save to a mobile phone.

In my opinion, this was a feature that was not completed in time for the last release. It was a feature that many people had been asking for a long time, so I asmue development had been started for a while.

Looks like a money grab to me :twak: .
