Loox like this is the exact same device as the new FujitsuSiemens Loox610 PocketPC... :D So i suspect the antenna is just for the WiFi thing...not for any phone functionality...

Also the speaker is in the wrong place and I don't see a microphone.

Button layout makes it longer, if you have issues with length  . still, a nice clean design.

Something about this design just looks wrong to me. Maybe its the weird button length-enhancers, but still, i hope the finished product is a bit more compact w/o speaker on the front.

"At the mobility party, we saw the MyPal A716, a PPC which will be launched by Asus in 2004. This new model, successor to the A620, will have a 400mhz Intel Xscale PXA255 processor with 64MB of RAM (of which 58MB will be user accessible). Equipped with Windows Mobile 2003, the A716 will offer both Bluetooth and wifi connections [they're both built-in] and will have both an SD card slot [no mention if it's SDIO] and a CF card slot. It weighs 170 grams."

There you have it guys, no phone, just *hopefully* really good wifi access.

Mobi-Mania has some information, in French, on what looks like a new Pocket PC Phone from Asus...

The Web site indicates it a PPC not PPC phone...This confirm the speaker and button layout observation. Both WiFi and BT are present.

Looks like the child of a LOOX and Axim X3i...why can't we have new designs every now and then?

Still too much bezel and not enough screen.
OEM manufacturers, either:
a) make the device smaller so that the sides are barely larger than the screen width or
b) use a bigger screen.

The antenna almost look "drawn" on

Yes guys, the antenna is for WiFi not a phone antenna. There is no mention of mobile phone functionality apart from the Microsoft Mobile 2003. A typo mistake from the author? Disapointing phone then :(

It IS the Loox 610 twin brother (the new one; the old one is model 600), except the Loox has 128 MB of RAM!! A bit like a Camaro and a Firebird .

Differences are only cosmetic (powerbutton, plastic around the two bottom buttons, even button labels (located differently), color of plastic around the screen), even the two top LEDs are located at the same spots:

(I have to wonder if the connectors are the same; as a possible reference: are the current MyPal600/620's and Loox 600's different or identical?)

Looks pretty safe to say that the manufactuer of the Fujitsu and ASUS are the same. At least most likely the same circuit board.

I wonder how much it's going to cost.
