<a href="http://news.com.com/2100-1041-5088993.html">http://news.com.com/2100-1041-5088993.html</a><br /><br />"The Round Rock, Texas-based company will introduce its Axim X3 in a press conference scheduled for this coming Wednesday, it said in an e-mail Thursday. The new handheld, which Dell has said will be thinner and lighter than its current device, the Axim X5, will be the first Dell handheld to come with wireless capabilities. Documents the Federal Communications Commission issued this month suggest that Dell will market two versions of the Axim X3--one with wireless and one without. The more expensive of the two will likely cost about $325. It is expected to include a faster processor and 802.11 wireless connectivity. The Axim X3 without wireless connectivity is expected to cost about $200. "<br /><br />You can already see pictures of it on Dell's site with a "Coming Soon" caption.

Hmm. There's going to be some overlap here with X5 basic already priced at $199. Unless perhaps Dell plans to cut that by a few bucks.

Still, you gotta love Dell's aggressive pricing on the WiFi model! $325? Look out, PalmOne, HP, Toshiba, and Sony. Dell is knocking down price barriers once again.

I knew they wouldn't let me down with the prices :) Come January, looks like I'll have my new device!

I'm sure the X5 will drop in price too, I'd guess $50.

So will this $325 model have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi or just Wi-Fi? If the former, they may get my money.

The article suggests that the 200 dollar one will only have 32 Mb of Memory and 300 MHz. Why would I want to get this product if I can get a H1935 for $200 with 64 mb of memory? (Granted they are different processors).

Is the 1935 that cheap?

yes after rebate.

Oh well the Dell will be $200 before rebate, probably $150 after. So you get less memory, but a better processor and $50 cheaper :)

After having an e310 for a year or so, I've realized 32 Mb isn't enough. :) I was hoping they would have a non- WiFi model with 64 Mb. I'd get that for sure.

Isn't the H1935 for a limited time only....they only made so many and that is it?

I'm still pretty ticked at MS right now and was convinced that my next PDA would be one of the Tungsten machines mainly because of reliability and Word/Excel round-tripping. However if this machine is significantly thinner than my current Axim, has integrated WiFi AND BT, and uses the same connectors ??? (ability to use my current foldable keyboard and docking station), then I can see me purchasing this. Especially at $325.

Heck, I already purchased Textmaker so the Word round-tripping is not nearly as much of an issue. No sense in cutting my nose to spite my face.

it is $199 until 01/31/2004 from hp.com, after that, I guess HP will reduce the price to $199 directly.

I see the HP rebate, but where did the 50 dollar coupon from?

For officemax

For amazon, you can just go to www.amazon.com, buy the h1935, add something to make $250, you will get $50 gift card from amazon and $50 rebate from HP, no tax no shipping

Did you get that deal? The fatwallet coupon says it can't be combined with any other offer. Does it mean in store offer only? ( excluding the HP, external rebate).

man, the amazon offer for the 1935 is $50 off your next purchase and the office max one is old. :( I was exited that this would be my chance to get it.

No! The OfficeMax one expires tomorrow (the 13th)! I was tempted to get one, but its not worth replacing my e310 with this one. Even though it is a great deal..

Why would I want to get this product if I can get a H1935 for $200 with 64 mb of memory? (Granted they are different processors). One reason might be that the Dell might have a useful serial connector.

I was skeptical about the low price-point for Dell's X5 last year, and it turned out that the rumors were right. But you'll have to forgive me for being skeptical again this year.

The most recent rumors basically say this:

$325 - High end - Has Wi-Fi but not BT. 64/400/PXA263

??? - Something in the middle?

$200/$250 - Low end - no wi-fi or BT

Max such a device would have to exist first.....

The X7 is rumored to have integrated GPRS or other odd acronym like that but I haven't heard it mentioned as being a Phone Edition. And it's not supposed to come out for a while yet....I'd predict January.

January is fine by me :D

PPCPE with CF = Dedicated CF slot for the 5 gig Toshiba HDD. Yay !!
No more switching between audiovox GPRS and the HDD . . . .
