I beta tested a version last night that was 100% functional on my iPAQ 2215, with one exception: every Pocket PC has different backlight controls, and until the Spb guys can get each device, it's hard for them to get the backlight control working. So on this version, 2215 owners won't be able to adjust their backlight. I'm sure this will be addressed in future versions.

You can follow the link above to download the newest version from PocketGear, and when you install it over your current version, it will upgrade it - no extra registration required. And if you don't already own Pocket Plus, you should. [Affiliate]

Great app, but I am wondering of the repeating alarms is necessary anymore on 2003. Repeating alarms are back, though I will admit not as annoying as Pocket Plus's alarms can be, and annoying is what alarms are supposed to be, right? :)

I'm using the trial version right now as I type this, pretty good app id say. I think i'll buy it. :)

If this program supported multitasking icons instead of the program name I would gladly purchase itand stop using wisbar. Hint, hint.

You have to tell pocketgear to upgrade the description on the website. It says it was last updated in march. Is that link really the updated app?

Pocket Plus adds features to repeating alarms, like being able to specify the number of times they repeat, stopping when the battery life gets to x%, ascending sound volume, and delays between alarms. Even though Microsoft fixed what they broke, they didn't enhance the functionality at all. Besides, it's like you're paying extra for that one feature.

Multitasking icons? As in, rather than showing the program name, you'd like to see icons? How would that work exactly? I haven't used Wisbar in a long time - I remember seeing the icons in the fly-out menu, but not in the drop-down menu. We're always open to new ideas, but without that fly-out menu, I don't see how it would work.

Yeah, something is fishy there...but if you look at the description:

"Any Pocket PC 2002/Windows Mobile 2003 device"

It's the right one. :-)

Jason, any idea if/when gprs monitor is going to be updated??? I like that little app, so I can tell what speed I am getting. I guess I don't need it to connect to the internet anymore cause ppc2003 has that ability now on the task bar.....

Last I heard, GPRS Monitor was 2003 friendly already. :-)

GPRS Monitor version 1 works on my 2215. It doesn't have the t-mobile unlimited data profile but I created a custom profile with a 400MB limit to track MB usage. I wish there was some way to just add that profile to the dropdown list. The power meter works fine. It is sync'ed exactly with the power level in Settings > Memory.

Do multiple IE windows work in this new version?

Works fine here. It isn't as useful as before for two reasons:

1. yes, 2003 has the connection bar, so there is some duplication
2. T-Mob US has unlimited data. :way to go:

However, it is still invaluable for me in connection speeds. Sometimes I can't tell if anything is really happening when Inbox is working or the IE flag is waving. GPRSMonitor lets me know that either something is going on or the connection has gone into a coma.

I think I found a bug. I'm using a 128MB SD card. The today plugin says that I have no Storage Card. Maybe because is now called SD Card?

Try tap-and-holding the storage card bar, and see if you can choose the SD Card from the popup menu. This "problem" existed even on older dual-slot Pocket PCs.

In WindowsXP you have the taskbar showing the names of programs along with its icon. In wisbar you see the applications running via icons in the taskbar. There is no need to use a drop down menu.

I am still clinging onto my Pocket PC 2002 (even though I am not sure I can hold on for long.... ). Hmmm...

What does the new update include? Purely support for the new OS? If that's the case, is it advisable for me to install the update for my Ipaq running on Pocket PC 2002?

Yes, AFAIK, it's just new 2003 support - you can install this new version just fine on your older device.

I haven't used this app before (I was just using a stand-alone battery meter), but if it supports multiple PIE pages I think I'll try it soon. Right now I'm at my usual stage with a new OS/device --

I'm so disorganized I'm spending hours looking for passwords/reg keys.
I'm wondering which of my hundred-plus programs I really need.
Cropped out isn't yet working with PPC2003 and I'm suffering withdrawal.
I remember why my name is disconnected -- with my new 5500 I can get to the internet at home wirelessly, and get to shared files on my PC, but have not managed wireless sync (I don't remember having to do anything special to achieve this in PPC2002, but as usual haven't kept any notes on the process), and haven't even started trying to get to Sprint Vision via Supplynet cable; I know connection manager is suppposed to be better, but I'd finally gotten to know the previous version and don't know where to start with this one.

Question to Pocket Plus users:

Can I disable specific features of the app?
More specifically, I use GigaTask on my right upper corner, customized with menus that execute 'Settings' and custom apps which I would not like to loose, so I have no need for Pocket Plus' task-switcher. Can I disable that?

Thanx in advance

Feel like I wrote that :-)

Seriously, I know what you mean. I'm staying away from PPC 2003 until I'm sure everything (or at least everything important) will work. I'll worry about little things later, but the majority of stuff has to be kosher before I can move on.

I have no doubt I'll be doing the upgrade, but it's a matter of when.

Question to Pocket Plus users:

Can I disable specific features of the app?
Sure. In the Control Panel, there should be a Pocket Plus icon. (If you don't see it, and you have just installed Pocket Plus, make sure you had soft-resetted after the installation.) In that configuration applet, it's very easy to tweak or turn off any features you want.

A comment on the multiple IE windows.
It is a shame there is no tap & hold on link | open this link in new window functionality. That would sure help me out a lot.

While I am at it, it would also be great to be able to customize the alarm settings for different outlook categories. Then I could have certain categories use system volume (mute) and other categories set to ascending volume. Another nice feature would be an option to use system volume setting even when muted.

That would be nice. Another suggestion. Let Pocket Plus keep the IE File Cache at a reasonable size. THere are no settings to control this and mine grows to 4-5MB when using WiFi. It would be nice if P+ would periodically take a peek in there and when it gets over a certian size, just whack old files until it is within your settings again.

I have an old, old, old app on my Jornada 548 called Multi IE that lets you tap and hold and open in a new window. I'm sure if you google this you may find out if it works on the newer OS's.

That was one of the first apps that I tried installing and unfortunately it does not. PIE is very different now and MultiIE does not attach itself properly in the new version of IE

The repeating alarms feature appears to be causing me a few problems on my 2210.

I've had two dismiss windows appear on a few occassions and just now it locked my iPAQ and I had to soft reset.

Any suggestions of things to check?

Thanks

I just have a hunch it might be a conflict between the two apps.

Hi,

Yes I do and that does seem to be the most problamatic.

Just did a test task with an alram in PI and switched on my 2210 then froze needing a soft reset.

Annoying as I really like the ascending alarms.

Switching it off didn't help me. Only uninstalling Pocket Plus fixed it. It seems Pocket Plus is intercepting the dialog balloons because the text was whacky too. Uninstalling it fixed the text and alarm issues with PI 4.5. I'll email Sbp and see if they have had any other reports like this.

I guess that I'm having the same problems on my Toshiba E750 running PPC2003 as the rest of the people posting on this thread. When the alarm goes off while I'm actively using another program (like IE) or if the PDA is turned off, the following occurs:
1) the message is not completely displayed;
2) no audible alarm is generated;
3) a soft reset is required to use the PDA.

Pocket plus is very cool, it works really well on my E740 running PPC2002. I look forward to using it with PPC2003.
