Hi guys, I'd gathered a list of s/w that I'll be installing on my unit. I'm able to find sources for some of them, & unable to for some too. For those which I'm able to find a link to download from, could you guys help me verify whether the source is the official(or most reliable & most popular) for that particular s/w? Actually I'll like the official site cos it'll provide the most accurate information on the software. While for those that I'm unable to locate a source for, can u guys help provide a link to it? Thanx; here goes:

For those that I'm able to find links for:

1. DBamp (http://download.com.com/3000-2140-10125657.html?tag=lst-1-15)- I'm not sure whether it's this one, cos this's named 'dBpowerAMP Music Converter 9.0'?

2. PocketMVP (http://home.adelphia.net/~mdukette/kits/PocketPC.zip)- Not sure whether this link's for the iPaq 5450; it said that it's for 'All Color PocketPCs'?

3. PocketTV (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=10565告onId=0&catalog=30)

4. PHM Regedit (http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/download.asp)

5. ICbar (ppcsg's freeware section; of course reliable right? )

6. ftxpbrowser (http://www.af.wakwak.com/~ftoshi/pocket/load_e/01h/ftxPBrowser.exe)

7. Adobe Acrobat reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)

8. Flash 6 (http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash/pocket_pc/ppc_installers/install_fp6_ppcax_en.exe)

9. GoLandscape (http://www.pocketgear.com/download.asp?product_id=7139)- I thought this one must buy? How come it's listed as freeware on the site?

10. WIMR (http://mypaq.net/mysoftware/wimr/index.shtml)- which version should I download? ARM? MIPS? SH3?

11. ICQ (http://www.icq.com/download/ftp-pocketpc.html)

Here are those that I'm unable to find sources for:

1. TMPG_Encoder

2. Uptime

3. Flash Assist

4. MultiIE

5. nyditot (Some landscape orientation s/w)

6. Ismap (It does display the map in IE, but doesn't appear to be a s/w avail. for download into a PPC)

Okay, here are those that I'm planning to buy:

1. Resco File Explorer (http://www.resco-net.com/explorer.asp)

2. Battery Pack 2003 (https://www.handango.com/minibrand/Basket.jsp?siteId=605&jid=24B8CD11X896X28DX6FF645E338D1X7X)

3. Pocket Toolman (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=FDF147EBXBX9C9E3C843F4XFDBXFB1XC&zsortParams=true&productId=34928&optionId=1_2_2&productType=2&catalog=30&txtSearch=pockettoolman告onId=0&platformId=2)

4. Mobem mPhone (http://www.mobem.com/products/mphone26/index.php)

Pls verify the integrity of the links where provided, if not can help me find source? Thanx in advance.

I'll give you what I know.

2. PocketMVP (http://home.adelphia.net/~mdukette/kits/PocketPC.zip) - Not sure whether this link's for the iPaq 5450; it said that it's for 'All Color PocketPCs'?

Yes, but http://pocketmvp.com is easier and maps to the same URL.

3. PocketTV (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=10565告onId=0&catalog=30)

http://www.mpegtv.com/wince/pockettv/index.html

4. PHM Regedit (http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/download.asp)

Obviously.

5. ICbar (ppcsg's freeware section; of course reliable right? )

http://icbar.ictinus.com

7. Adobe Acrobat reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)

Obviously.

8. Flash 6 (http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flash/pocket_pc/ppc_installers/install_fp6_ppcax_en.exe)

Obviously.

11. ICQ (http://www.icq.com/download/ftp-pocketpc.html)

Obviously.

Here are those that I'm unable to find sources for:

3. Flash Assist

http://www.antmobile.com

4. MultiIE

http://www.southwaycorp.net

5. nyidiot (Some landscape orientation s/w)

You got the name wrong -- http://www.nyditot.com. (It stands for Now Why Didn't I Think Of That, not New York IDIOT.)

Okay, here are those that I'm planning to buy:

1. Resco File Explorer (http://www.resco-net.com/explorer.asp)

Obviously.

4. Mobem mPhone (http://www.mobem.com/products/mphone26/index.php)

Obviously.

NOTE: When I say "Obviously", I just mean that it's obvious that the domain is correct. As you didn't provide real links to click on, I didn't want to spend the time copying and pasting them to ensure they were correct. The board software will make real links out of URLs automatically if you have spaces surrounding them -- http://www.svpocketpc.com -- like that; you used parentheses.

Steve

P.S. Please don't post long links "naked". The board software doesn't wrap them, and it resets the margins for the whole page, forcing horizontal scrolling. Use the URL tags, like this:

[url=http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=10565告onId=0&catalog=30]
Pcoket TV
[/url]

The above looks like the following when posted:

Pcoket TV
(http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=10565告onId=0&catalog=30)
See how much nicer that is? :-)

Please consider editing your post and applying my suggestion. If you do, I'll remove this P.S. from my post and we'll have almost no horizontal scrolling.

...7. Adobe Acrobat reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)

Obviously.

Hmm...but the interesting thing is, there's already a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader that is included with the CD provided with my HP iPaq. How do I determine whether which version(the one available on Adobe's website or the copy in my CD) is newer?

Done. Thanx for the advice/suggestions. Now would you kindly please click on the links to help me double-check again? Thank you.

I would think that the version at Adobe's Web site would be at least as new as anything burned on a CD. The only exception would be if Adobe produced a special version for an OEM for some reason.

Thanx for the advice/suggestions. Now would you kindly please click on the links to help me double-check again? Thank you.
OK, I've checked the other links that I didn't give you, and here's what I've found.

1. DBamp (http://download.com.com/3000-2140-10125657.html?tag=lst-1-15)- I'm not sure whether it's this one, cos this's named 'dBpowerAMP Music Converter 9.0'?

How can we be sure, then? :-) What do you think it does? My understanding is that dBpowerAMP is a music program that runs on your PC, not your Pocket PC. The company can be found at http://www.dbpoweramp.com.

10. WIMR (http://mypaq.net/mysoftware/wimr/index.shtml)- which version should I download? ARM? MIPS? SH3?

If you have the iPAQ 5450 as your first post implied, you want the ARM version. Any iPAQs and any Pocket PC 2002 devices will use ARM files.

Battery Pack 2003 (https://www.handango.com/minibrand/Basket.jsp?siteId=605&jid=24B8CD11X896X28DX6FF645E338D1X7X)

That URL is bad -- it takes me to a shopping cart.

For reference, unless the company is very small, Handango and PocketGear links aren't the official Web sites. Some small developers may just dump stuff there and not run their own Web site, but I think most developers will at least have a Web site for information with a link to Handango or PocketGear for purchases.
