<a href="http://csa.compaq.com/CSA_PPC_Summit.shtml">http://csa.compaq.com/CSA_PPC_Summit.shtml</a><br /><br />Some of you will find this very interesting - HP/Compaq has put up the PowerPoint slide shows from their presentations. Check out the first presentation from Cindy Box for a good overview of where HP is going with their "Smart handhelds". The following presentations are online:<br /><br />• iPAQ Pocket PC Strategy and Direction, Cindy Box - HP <br />• Developing Expansion Packs for the iPAQ Pocket PC, Richard Zainfeld - HP <br />• Creating Device Drivers for iPAQ Expansion Packs, Steve Maillet - Entelechy Consulting <br />• Enabling Applications for Bluetooth Communication, Jean Gearreau - Widcomm <br />• .NET for Devices, Ed Kaim - Microsoft <br />• Making the Most of the iPAQ Developer Program, David McAfee - HP
• .NET for Devices, Ed Kaim - Microsoft
Another presentation that brings nothing new!
My question: when will we see .NET Compact Framework
for MS Smarpthone remains unaswered despite I have read
his presentation!
Or maybe already it is supported indirectly hence SDE and .NET CF
for VisualStudio .NET made it possible to target WindowsCE 3.0,
which will run inside of MS Smarpthone 2002 similarly as it runs
under PocketPC 2002 ???
But still no clear answer...

I recall the Sendo guys saying at Pocket PC Summit that their device will ship with .NETcf pre-installed.

Although the first version of SmartPhone will not include the .NET Compact Framework in ROM, future releases will. Once it is released, developers will be able to use Visual Studio .NET to build applications in the same way they build for the desktop and other devices.

Again, your answer is too vague to be helpful!
It is widely known that sooner or later .NET CF will be
pre-installed in all Microsoft's systems but
the problem is that in 1-2 months Sendo Z100
with MS Smartphone 2002 comes out to the market
and Microsoft screwed up: there is no .NET Compact Framework
for MS Smarpthone 2002 available!!!! (and will not be in
near future) And it does not
matter whether it is preinstalled in ROM or if it must be
loaded from Internet. The point is that it is NOT AVAILABLE!!!
In other words: all this talk in your presentation ".NET CF in all
devices" is worthless because as I understand: .NET CF for
MS Smartphone 2002 will not be released before the end of
this year!!! And by this time market will be taken over by eVB
and eVC applications, not giving even a chance to applications done
for .NET CF !!!! (not to mention Symian and Java)
When??? When it will be possible to download/install the .NET CF
into MS Smartphone 2002? Give estimation!!! No more vague,
meaningless, answers please!

I have heard that eVB apps cannot be target SmartPhone devices. (Can anyone confirm or deny this?)
Also keep in mind that Sendo has frequently advertised the fact that their devices will come with a Java Virtual Machine in ROM.
Still, I share your frustration in wanting to develop .NETcf apps for this new platform.
