So I finally picked my Avatar.

I have to admit, it was hard to find a good one. At some point I guess I'll have to pick an "official" Pocket PC Thoughts Avatar, but until then I thought Wolverine would be fun. Grr.

I feel like Wolverine is a good choice...my sources tell me the X-Men all use Pocket PC's now.

Built-in 802.11b on the X-Jet, lets them send e-mail from anywhere.
I guess we could say that Jason is the Wolverine of Pocket PCs now can't we? (I don't think I should have said that)

You've gotten me to change my avatar, while I wait for the offical avatar. I'll let you guess what/who it is, but I will tell you that it isn't me, and that it is something of a digital melding.

Cheers,
Sam

It is to small to see almost, but I will make a guess that it is an actor. (That narrowed it down alot didn't it )

We are all actors in one way or another. Shoot me I'm going Vorlon.

Yeah, it's an actor; both the head and the body (costume), although they are different actors for each. Isn't Photoshop great?

Just to be fair...

I figured I'd go with the German techno look.

Jason,

Do you mind if we use one of the the PDABuzz protest avatars for a while? This is my new home forum, but I just wanted to pay a little respect to Wes. If not, I can change it.

Also, is there a way to limit the width of website display to the width of our browser? It seems to be set to something like 1024 and if our browser width is less than that, we have to scroll to the right to read all of the messages. Just wondering.

Just need an HTTP link for this - this is as good a place as any.

Wadester - please do keep it for a while. PDABuzz is a great loss to the community.

Short of pornographic images, I have zero objection to people using any Avatar they want. Go for it! I think Wes would appreciate it.

Yeah, that's a problem we have to fix with our template - we added the banner ad and it forced the text over to the right...slightly bigger than 800 x 600. Sorry about that! It's on the "fix" list.

Sorry for making this thread even more offtopic, but I've also noticed that when EdH pasts really long links in the board, they don't get force-wrapped in Mozilla/Netscape and as a result the discussion becomes painfully wide.

See http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2036 - makes it impossible to read unless I switch to IE. Not terribly urgent, but the effect that the vBulletin software had (i.e., puts "dots" in the display) was really cool.

Thanks for listening to our feedback and rants :) And now, to make it slightly more relevant: what are the rank settings right above the avatar, e.g., what is the first "milestone"?

What is a KISS method of making an avatar? I have something in mind, however I'm just not sure how to make it the correct size or even if I need to make any changes to the picture.

Load up the image you want to use in any graphics app, and crop it to 75 x 75 pixels, save as GIF or JPEG, then upload. Bam! 8) You may need to resize the image if the portion of the image you want to use is bigger than 75 x 75 pixels.

Or use smaller than 75x75 graphics, if you're a modest guy like me. :p

An Avatar can be a fun alternate personality... but I did the lazy thing and just put a picture of myself (from about 10 years and 30 pounds ago)

Yeah. Sigh..... normally I would wrap that sort of link in an HREF tag, but I can't do that for front page posts. I wonder if that http://www.makeashorterlink.com/ site would be a good idea for those. I'll keep it in mind for future reference BigDaddyJ.

I did it as a test on that thread - it works but there is a 2 second pause at makeashorterlink.com for "ad time." Don't know if I like that or not. :? Anyway, the width on that thread has been fixed.

Jason, just thought I would let you know that in response to your request I will not be linking to this site for my avatar, don't want to steal your bandwidth. I am excited to see that my image was downloaded 25 times though, I didn't think there were that many of us on these boards.

That is how many have linked to it from offsite, not actually downloaded it or viewed it here.

Hmm, I wonder where they are linking it to, I haven't seen anyone else with this avatar except for me.
