When do you think Apple will introduce <a href="http://flickr.com/photos/axb500/256919875/in/set-72157594225280259/" target="_blank">&quot;Get an iPod&quot; ads</a>? We do need John Hodgman to make Zune a world of fun.

Hang on... I thought it was the other way around. Isn't PC the boring, uptight one and Mac the fun, cool one?

Yes, that's how it's supposed to be, but I just threw a different light on the whole ad campaign. ;)

The whole ad compain actually ended up backfiring on Apple. Turns out the ads made people more sympathetic to the PC guy, and turn away from the Apple guy feeling he was snarky and stuck-up. They ended up letting the Apple Guy go.

Actually no, they did not (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/11/20061113133631.shtml). And where is your data that it backfired? The Ad campaign has been wildly sucessful, as far as I understood.

I think that says a lot more about you than it does about the ads. ;)

If you take a survey of the general public, you'll find there are plenty in my boat. The PC character is by far the more popular of the two. Even a lot of the Mac fans agree. ;)

I relate to stupid people better than smart people so I guess the PC Guy is more my style.

It also seemed obvious to me that the characters where caricatures of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

I'm envisioning a Zune vs iPod ad, with the MS guy coming out all sharp looking in a nice charcoal or brown suit. Then iPod guy wanders out and he's bundled up in ski gear and various other types of padding. Zune asks what's up with the padding and iPod says something trying to stay safe. Zune says something about being able to take the day on unconcerned.

Someone make the commercial!

Of course one good parody deserves another.
